Sri KrishNAya namah, sri mukhya prANAya namah, Dear KrishNa bhaktas,

I have attached a brochure from Sri Mukund that gives some more

details about the sarvamoola waferfiche along with some pictures.

Sri Mukund has done outstanding service to srimadAchArya and the mAdhva

community over the years with his tAra prakAshana publication. His

devotion, focus, dedication and humbleness are extraordinary. He is a

living proof that one person can make a difference and accomplish great

things with devotion, dedication and focus. Sri Mukund spent

a large portion of his time and money to take couple of world class

experts in imaging and manuscript restoration to Udupi to scan the

sarvamoola gramthas. These people had worked on the restoration of

Dead sea scrolls and other ancient works in the Western world. Normally

they charge lot of money for their services. Sri Mukund convinced them

about the unique nature of this manuscript and they agreed to work for

free. Sri Mukund covered their travel expeneses. Through their efforts

and working their unique scanning and restoration technology, large

portion of the Sri Hrishkesha Theertha's manuscript has been preserved.

The manuscript is never opened because each time it is opened, there is

a danger that some portion of the manuscript will deteriorate. It is

fortunate that the priceless magnificent manuscript has been scanned

and enhanced with infrared imaging so that the writing is more clearly

visible even compared to reading the manuscript itself. Sri

Mukund and his students have come up with a innovative methodology to

store ancient manuscript. Most of the digital media that we use today

have a very limited shelf-life. CDs, DVDs that we use have a shelf

life of 20-30 years. Sri Mukund and his students have come up with

technology to store images directly on a Silicon wafer. These will

last a minimum of 500 years under extreme conditions. They have applied

for patent for this technlogy. This is ideal technology to store these

manuscripts for long periods of time. They have stored the sarvamoola

gramtha images that they have scanned on a silicon wafer. This is the

sarvamoola waferfiche. The concept is very similar to how documents

used to be stored on microfiche before. The images are on silicon

wafer instead of being on a film. Sri Sarvamoola gramtha is

said to have sannidhAna of Sri madhAchArya and sri lakshmi devi.

Waferfiche also has a very thin layer of gold on top of the Silicon

wafer. It is very auspicious to have it in the house for pooja

purposes. The waferfiche picture is shown in the attachment. It is a

disc of about 6-7" in diameter. Sri Mukund says that you can see the

manuscript if you use a high power magnifying glass. This manuscript

is not meant for reading as the script of the manuscript is in old

malayalam script. Very few people can read the script now. The

waferfiche is an ideal form for all mAdhvAs to have a copy of the

original manuscript of sri Hrishikesha theertha in our houses for pooja

purposes. We should be grateful to sri krishNa and sri madhvAcharya

that something that was not possible for 700 years is possible now

i.e. we can have a copy of the great manuscript in our houses. We

should thank Sri Mukund for making this available to all of us. He

correctly says with great humility that he is not the karta.

Sri Mukund has even greater plans for manuscript restoration. He has

found that British museum has huge number of very ancient manuscripts

from India. For example, they have a 1000 year old manuscript of sri

mahAbhArata and ancient manuscripts of the purANAs. British Museum has

agreed to make digital copies of these as long as their cost is

reimbursed. Sri Mukund wants to use the proceeds from the sarvamoola

waferproject and from his company to get the copies of the manuscripts

to scholars in India. First batch of the copying of the ancient

manuscripts of the 18 mahapurANas is supposed to be ready next year.

Sri Bannanje GovindAchArya will be using some of these mahAbhAratha

manuscripts in his upcoming works. I request every mAdhva to make use of this great opportunity to have a copy of the sacred manuscript in their houses.

Namaskara. As you know, Viajaya Dashami is next Thursday. It also happens to be the birthday of Shri Madhvacharya. It would be a wonderful day for devotees to get a copy of the Sarvamoola waferfiche for puje. I know that this sounds like a sales pitch. But, those of you who have known me for a while will hopefully realize that it is not. So, if you know anyone interested in getting it by Vajayadashami, we need the orders in by Monday at the latest.

Some good news. One copy has reached Pajaka and is being kept next to the murthi of Prana devaru (established by Shri Vadiraja yatigalu) and worshipped everyday. Also, the following Swamijis have got/ordered the saravamoola waferfiche for puje in their respective mathas: Shri Pejavara Swamiji, Shri Puttige Swamiji, Shri Adamaru Swamiji, Shri Kaniyuru Swamiji and Shri Bhadarakere Swamiji.

It is worthwhiel mentioning here, one more remarkable work done by Prof, Mukund and team.

Sri Sripadarja mutt has the original manuscript of Sri padamanapa theertharu written Geetha bhasya. it is around 60 pages written on both sides of thalegari. The lipi is in sanskrit.

This manuscript is presered in the mutt and is availble along with samsthana prathimas of Sri Sripadarja mutt. Hence daily pooja is done along with Sri gopinatha devaru.

Prof. Mukund and his team completely digitilised the entire pages, spending around 12 hours in the muttt.

Prof Mukund's contribution to the madhwas society, by preserving these old manuscripts is by the paripoorna anugraha of Sri madhwacharaya.

Dear Krishna bhaktas,

There is one error in the report that I would like to correct. Sri

Mukund clarified that travel expenses to Udupi for experts in imaging and

restoration were paid by Rochester Institute of Technology. I regret the error.

sarvamoola waferfiche
