Guest guest
SRI VENKATESHA MAAHAATMYAM Book Review : Mohan Chippagiri Dayanidhe Dayanidhe Dayanidhe Dayanidhe | Namo Namo Namo Namo Namo Namo Namonnamaha|| Vidwan Sri Rama Vittalacharya has taken up a wonderlful task by translating the Shri Adithyapuranatargatha Sri Venkatesha Maahaatmyam. It is a stothra consisting of slokas and has five Chapters. He has translated giving the meaning of each shloka meticulously and can easily be understood by even an average Kannada reader. By their anugruha sandeshas Sri Sri Sathyatma Teertha Swamji of Sri Uttaradimath, Sri Sri Vishvesha Thitharu of Pejawara Matha, Sri Sri Vidhyadheesha thirtharu of Palimar matha and Sri Sri Vidhydeesha Thirtahru of Sri Bhandarakeri Math have blessed the author and the translator has translated their blessings by bringing this fantastic work before us. This book has a brief note about how to do Tirumala Yathra and the introduction of the book is given by Sri Ramamurthy Sharma. He has explained how Tirumala got different names. He has also mentioned about the history of the Stotra. According to the history, the Stothra was recited by Devasharma who was Kuchela in his previsous birth and has quoted the small story of how the stothra came to this earth and is very interesting to learn about this through the book.. Devaranama of Shri Prasanna Sreenivasadasaru on Sri Srinivasa Kalyana and also the Suladis of Hanumantha Rao Gorebala (Sri Sundaresha Vittala) is also included in this which is a well thought of inclusion and has enriched the in understanding the meaning of the stothras in the book. In the first few pages, whole of Sri Venkatesha Maahaatmyam Stothra printed in good font and with bold letters. The coverpage design by Shri K M Seshagiri is excellent. Translator and publisher should be happy in bringing this edition which is re-printed four times after the first publication. As I mentioned earlier, this book has Five Chapters. The first chapter deals with the Prathana of Sanakadigalu, Sutaru, Venkatachalada Pavithrathe, history of the Stothras, Goddess Lakshmi Devi praising the lord, Stothra by Shri Brahma Devaru on lord Sreenivasa, and finally stothra by Shri Sesha Devaru. The Second Adhyaya explains about the Godess Lakshmi Devi Stuthi, Chaturmukha Brahma Devaru, Seshadevaru, Rudra Devaru, Prakrutha description and Indra Stuthi on Lord Sreenivasa which is a delight and which i the mind while reading this chapter. One important aspect of this Adhyaya is the narration of the signs which are there exclusively on the Sreenivasa Devaru's Paada. The signs like Chakra, Shanka, Gadha and Padma are dealt in this Aadhaya. The Third chapter is one of the most important and fascinating chapter. It deals with the description (Varnane) of Lord Sreenivasa Devaru. To quote an instance one can count the Stars, Atoms, and Seconds. Whereas nobody including Ramadevi leave others starting from Shri Chaturmukha Brahma Devaru downwards can count lord's Gunas and the tathva of Taratmaya is also clearly narrated here. By recitation of this stothra all the sins of an individual will be washed away. The description of the roopa of Shri Sreenivasa Devaru is so clear that the reader can feel that he is experiencing the narration through his inner eye (olagannininda nodo hariya) . “Dasavatharada Varnane†is a vast topic but this stotra is also having Dasavathara Varnane which is explained in few stanzas. Mahima of the other avataaras of the Lord Srinivasa is also covered in this chapther. How to get the Anugraha from the lord Sreenivasa is covered in the fourth chapter . Just like Purusha Suktha Devasharma’s Stuthi, Sreenivasa Namasmarane Mahima are all dealt in this book. In the fifth adhyaya, Goddess Lakshmi Devi’s mahime, Gayathri mantra, is explained. How to do darshana of Bhimbamurthy Sreenivasa and at the end the conclusion and samarpane of the Stothra is explained. Devasharma requests the lord give to give him strength and to protect him. At the end Lord blesses Deva Sharma for reciting the stothra and at the end Sootharu tells to Sanandadigalu they are great and have heard this stotra and recited and they have given him opportunity to narrate the mahima of the Lord Srinivasa Devaru and are content and the people who recite and who listen to this stotra will be solved of their problems and will get peace in their lives. This stotra has also power to fulfill the desires of the people and this is the absolute truth. Hanumantha rao Gorebala has written summary of this Stothra. The description is excellent and it will delight the readers who go through the book. This book contains 368+40 pages and it is priced at Rs 75/- and is available in Sri Vidhyapeetha Book Stall, Bangalore . With the blessings from Hari Vayu Gurugalu I had an opportunity to go read the book and felt liking writing this review. If any mistakes are found in the review they are mine and I own up the same. I conclude my review by quoting one slokha from this master piece of a book : VENKATADRI SAMAM STHANAM BRAMNDAE NASTHI KINCHANA VENKATESHA SAMO DEVO NA BHOOTO NA BHAVISHYATI ||barathi ramana mukhya pranantargata srikrishnarpanamastu|| !!!
