Guest guest
Namaste. On this day of Aradhana of Sri.Vasudendra Tirtharu, let us get acquainted with this great siant's life history and works. Sree Vasudendra Tirtharu (ashrama from 1750 - 1761), pUrvAshrama name is Sri PurushOttamAchrya. HH's lineage, both in purvAshrama and turiyAshrama, is a great lineage descending from none other than Gurusarvobhouma Sri.Ragavendra prabhu. Sri.Raghvendra Tirtha's purvAshrama son is Sri.Laxminarayanachrya. Sri. Laxminarayanacharya has a son Sri.Purushottamachrya; and in turn he has two sons – Sri.Srinivascharya and Sri.Venugopalacharaya. Among these two great grandsons of Rayara purvashrama, Sri. Srinivascharya subsequently becomes Sri.Vaadindra Tirtha, author of much celebrated work `guru-guNa-stavana' on Mantralaya Prabhu ! Second great grandson, Sri.Venugopalachraya in turn had three sons; Sri.Purushottamacharya, Sri.Balaramacharya and Sri.Laxminarayanacharya. All these three sons subsequently became three great saints in Rayara mutt parampara!. They are Sri.Vasudendra Tirtha, Sri.Varadendra Tirtha and Sri.Bhuvanendra Tirtha respectively. What a soubhAgya for Sri.Venugopalacharya ! First son, Sri.Purushottamacharya has studied all shAstras directly under Sri.Vaadindra Tirtha Himself and he become HH's beloved sishya. He was given sanyasa in 1743-44 AD and named as " Sree Vasudendra Tirtha " . Among Sri.Vasudendra Tirtha's works, what we have today is only two works – tantrasara vyakhyAna and guruguNastavana vyakhyana * Sri Vasudendra Tirtha gave sanyasashrama to His purvashrama brother Sri.Balaramacharya in 1759 and named him as Sri.Varadendra Tirtha. Later HH has reached SriHari's adobe at the place called Kenchanna gudda on the bank of river Tungabhadra. * There is another vyakhyana on guruguNastavana by Sri.Dhirendra Tirtha created in his purvashrama as Sri. Jayaramacharya. Sri.Jayaramacharya is none other than purvasharama son of Sri.Vaadindra Tirtha himself and subsequently took sanyasa in front of Sri.Vijayeendra's Brundavana at Kumbakonam and known as Sri.Dheerendra Tirtha of Hosaritti. vasudAtala vikhyatam vairargyAdi guNarNavaM vEda vEdanga chaturam vasudEndra guruM bhaje || (Source courtesy: Sri.A.R.panchamuki's 2000 edition of Guru Guna Stavana, published by Sri.Raghavendratirtha pratistanam, Dharwar) Sri Kishnarpanamastu.
