Shri SathyaPramodha Thirtharu-The Legend

 

Inspired by Jayathirtha charaya Malagi Article in Kannada

Shri Sathyapromadha Thirtharu served Fifty years as a Peetadipathi of Shri Uttaradimath. Swamiji became famous in all nook and corners of Madhwa Community by his remarkable achievements and the service he had done to our community.

 

Shrigalu is very affectionate, talkative having lot of endurance and completely dedicated his life in enlightening the noble by giving pravachanas and conducting classes.

 

Swamiji was born in 1918 on Bhadrapada Krishna panchami at Dhwarda of Karnataka . His father name is Sri Guttala Rangacharya. He was by profession a lecturer in Sanskrit. Swamiji's purva asharama name was Guttala Gururajacharya. He took his beginning lessons under his father . Afterwards he left to Tirupathi, Udupi and Mysore for his higher education. Swamiji became expert in Shatras , Nyaya and Grammar . When he was working as a faculty in Mysore, Shri Uttaradimath at the age of 28 he has got married and was blessed with two sons. At that time he got the call from Shri Sathyabhigna Thirtahru of

Uttaradimath to come to him. Later he was ordained into the Sansyasa Ashrama by Shri Sathyabhignaru Thirtahru by the blessings of Shri Sathyadynathirtahru and became Sathyapramodha Thirtharu. He took over the reins of the Shri Uttaradimath which is now the largest matha for the Vaishnavites.

 

After that Swamiji never looked back. He had studied under Shri SathyaPragna Thrthru. He finished Shri Sudha Pata with in one year as a peetadipathi and the Sudha Mangala held at Shri Jayathirtha Brindavana at Malked before hundreds of Pandits. Swamiji gave discourses on Sudha grantha continuously for eght hours. Swamiji has received many appreciations from the pandits who gathered there for that programme. It was a brilliant achievement for Shrigalu.

 

He has also the distinction of authoring Shri Sudha Mandana, Yukthimallika Vyakhayana , Vijayaendra Vijaya Vaibhava etc., He is used to teach these granthas at the respective palces.

 

Swamiji has travelled extensively to Kashi, Gaya, Madras, Mysore and Hyderabad. Swamiji has prepared more than 50 Pandits. Swamiji collected thousands of Manuscripts. Swamiji has found libraries at Hospet and Bangalore. Swamiji has also taught Shastra pathas to peetadipathis of Koodali, Kanyiyoor and Siroor respectively.

 

Swamiji started Shri Jayathirtha Vidhyapeetha in Bangalore. At present there are 200 students and 15 Pandits are working as a faculty. In his regime Swamiji has published more than 50 books.

 

Swamiji has procured Golden canopy, Cradle, howdas, Arathi tategalu for the for lord Rama. Apart from this Swamiji has collected Sliver , Gold and diamonds oranaments for the deities of the math.

 

Swamiji took fabulous step that and contributed Golden Kindi to the Udupi Krishna worth 5 Lakhs at that times.

 

Swamiji took many renovation works of the Shri Uttaradimaths present in Sri Ranga, Mysore, Bellary, Hubli, Shimogha, Malked, Kanchi, Thirupathi, Hyderabad, Kurnool , Tirukoilur, Kumbhakonam and Madaras and many more places.

 

Swamiji has observed Vratas like Vishnu Pancha Vrata,Chandrayana for five times.. Every year Swamiji is used to conduct “Sudha Mangala†for 10 times. Swamiji lead a simple life. Swamiji is used to take very little prasada. All the Peetadipathis of those times appreciated Swamiji's hard work for spreading Shree Madhwacharya’s Philosophy. Swamiji is used to honour many great pandits of those times.

 

Swamiji is one of the great Madhwa yathi who had given Shri Sathyathma Thirtha Sripadaru as a gift for us. In 1997 on Kartika Shudha Triteeya Swamiji entered Brindavana in Trirukoilur. Every year the Aradhane is performed with utmost respects and devotion and many devotes from all parts of the country will be attending this Aradhane.

 

Present swamiji of Shri Uttaradimath is instituted “DHANYA PRAMODHA†award and this will be presented to the great pandits who are well versed in Sri Acharya’s philosophy this will be presented on the Madhya Aradhane of Sri Sathyapromodha Sripadaru. The Sathyathma Thirtha Sripadaru also constituted Jaya Sathyapramoda Nidhi trust which will serve the poor Madhwa Brahmins Students in the memory of Sri Sathyapromodha Sripadaru.

 

With the blessings from Hari Vayu Gurugalu and being inspired by Pandit Sri Jayathirthacharaya Malagi’s article in Kannada I have brought this article before you as Aradhane is being celebrated on this day of outstanding peetadipathi Sri Sathyapromodha Thirtharu and pranamas for the swamji on this memorable day.
