Hare Srinivasa,

24th Monday - Karthika Bahuka Dwadashi - also celebrated as " Dhanvathari Jayanti".

Let us all pray Lord Dhanvathari to bless all the sajjans with good health thoughout. -- "sarve santhu niraamayaah"

As dasarayaru says, "saadhana shareeravidhu nii dayadi kOttaddhu"..... But along with the shariira we need to have good health also. What is the use of a long life without good health?. You all know "Health is wealth", "aaroogyavE bhaagya" - one needs to have good health to make use of this wonderful body to do saadhana for "iha" and "para" purushaartha. A sound mind always shelters in a sound body and it would be almost impossible to do any saadhana without a healthy body, even if one has jnana, bhakthi, vairagya...... So let us all pray Lord Dhanvathari to bless us with good health to make use of this "saadhana sareera". There are few prayers by dasarayaru about Lord Dhanvathari and some more details are given at the end of this mail.

MYP has created "Dhanvathari Nidhi" to help the needy madhvas with the healthcare problems. We were doing this on a ad-hoc basis last 3-4 years and helped few needy madhvas, especially students, but the need is growing day by day. As you know most of the students in the Vidyapeeta are not in a good position financially, and any major medical treatment would be really an 'impossible' case for them. These students are dedicating their life for upholding Shri Acharya's teachings and is it not our duty to help them a little during their bad time??.

We have few requests coming now & then and we are trying our best to support and help. By Lord's grace, madhva bhandus from all corners of the globe are respecting our appeal every time and generously contributing. But is it possible to repeat the same song everytime? Can we not think of some better way to manage such crises.???.... Instead of “fire fighting" in the last moment, some of our volunteers thought of creating a permanent solution for such emergencies, and the result is "Shri Dhanvanthari Nidhi.”

A team of volunteers from MYP Core team would take care of the activities of the Nidhi. Shri Haridasa Bhat, Principal, Poornaprajna Vidyapeeta would be "mentor" the team and see that Nidhi would help the needy in the right time. The team is desiring to establish a corpus fund of Rs10.00 Lakh so that by the interest earned we can take care of medical emergencies of all students of all the vidyapeeta & their dependents. With the generous contribution and strong support from all of you, we would like to extend the same to the deserving pandits, Achars, purohits and archakas in the coming days.

By Lord's grace, most of us are in a better position and can afford to spare few rupees to help those students in the Vidyapeeta who are torch-bearers of Shri Acharya's teachings. I would like to request all of you to volunteer for contributing to this Nidhi on the auspicious day of Shri Dhanvathari Jayanthi. A monthly/ quarterly / half yearly contribution of Rs 10 / 25 / 50 from each one of you would be really a big help to us and we can realise our dream in no time........ You are also most welcome for one time lump sum donation, in the name of your nearer / dearer. You are also most welcome with any suggestion to strengthen our efforts to provide healthcare solutions to all the needy madhvas.

The contributions may be credited to "MADHWA YUVA PARISHAT TRUST" s/b account at State Bank of Mysore .

On this holy day of Dhanvathari Nidhi, we are handing over conribution to the parents of Chi Guruprasadh Aithal and let us all pray Lord to bless this boy with a good health so that he can puruse his study of Shri Madhva Shastra and propagate the same.

May Lord Karthika Damodhara bless all of us with more strength and determination needed to continue to help the noble causes by all means thoughtout our life....to help our own people and thus serve HIM.

In Tamilnadu, in the courtyard of Shri Ranganath swami temple, Srirangam, there is a Dhanvantari Temple, where daily worshipping of the Lord is performed according to tradition.
