Guest guest
The Simhachalam temple authorities have published a book based on a PhD thesis dealing with he history of the temple.(I can search for the thesis' author name if anyone is interested). The temple has got a rich collection of inscriptions. From these, it has been possible to get the following information: Sri Narahari Teertha was doing pooja to Sri Varaha Narasimha as the chief priest at the Simhachalam temple. After him, the mutt lineage continued with 4 more pontiffs carrying on the tradition. The lineage did not spread beyond Simhachalam, and seems to have ended circa 1450. Additional info:Sri Narayana Teertha of Madhava Teertha lineage attained brindavana at Simhachalam as per the Madhava Teertha Matha history. -- B. Guest guest
Very interesting bit of info. Many temples in South had Madhva pontiffs/scholars as priests, But shifted to other sects in view of change in demography/migration/apathy to scholarship. In some cases in recent years the priests did not have scholarly exposure and hence others gained prominence in administration.
