What did we do? || Sri hoLekere mukhya prANAnthargatha Sri Lakshmi NarasimhO vijayathe || Namaskara All, I am aware of most of the events that our Madhwa Bandhus participated to do their bit to observe Sri Madhwa Navami today. Few of our MYP bretheren went to Sri Kshethra Hanasoge with Sri Vishwa Nandana Theertharu few people did it at the Mutts, closest to their homes, few were busy with their Aradhane, Pooja, patana and pArayane at their respective homes..... while we are still getting lot of reports about the same, wanted to share about this specific aacharaNe we did at Sri Arjuna Puri Kshethra.. Yes, Holekere, which is well within half kilometer of Maddur, houses the famous Ashta Bahu Sri Ugra Narasimha Devaru, with 20 ft high Kanchi Sri Kan Varada Swamy and Saparivara samEtha Sri Ramachandra on either side. The place gets its name from the days of Mahabharatha, when Arjuna requests Sri Krishna to show his Ugra Roopa with which he killed Hiranya Kashipu and Sri Krishna smilingly declines saying Arjuna might not be able to take the roudrate of his roopa and instead orders Vishwa Karma to make an idol with that theme. Arjuna sees that and installs the idol at this place and this place gets the name. During historical period, the same place was known to be an armoury and was busy manufacturing explosives (maddhu - in kannada) hence the new name Maddur. The location in context, the temple of Sri Holekere Anjaneya Swami is just about half a kilomenter from the group of above temples. This temple is located in a very serene and tranquil environment with lush green paddy fields on one side, and the flowing Kanva River on the other. Though the temple is under the Dept of Endowments, there is a Madhwa Priest who takes good care of yatis and devotees and also there is Trust - Sri Holekere Anjaneya Swami Temple Trust, headed by Smt Usha & Sri Muralidhar and their family members. They belong to this place and have been taking care of the building, renovation and all other aspects of the temple, which has witnessed visits, stay, samsthana pooje and bhikshe of many of our MAdhwa yathigaLu. While the entire family members stay at BLR, they observe atleast six celebrations here at this place - Sri Madhwa Navami, Sri Hanumajjayanthi, Dhatri Havana, Sri Narasimha Jayanthi etc. The plan for this event started 2 weeks back when MYP learnt of this event which takes place every year and we appoched the elderly couple Smt & Sri Muralidhar, who at first instance made us feel so comfortable and they willingly agreed to the idea of we joinig hands with them. While Smt & Sri Muralidhar's family had been at the site on the previous day to take care of the arrangements, we left BLR at 7am, with following people Sri Raghuveer Naik & family Sri Sheshagiri & Family Sri Phaniraj Sri Srinivasa Jagannath and myself. Our immense thanks to Sri Praveenacharya Hungund, from the Jayatheertha Vidya Peeta, for accompanying us to this devine event.
