Guest guest
Madhwa’s Teachings. 21-03-09. Lord Venkatesha arrives at the Satyadhyana Vidyapeetha. Sri Venkatesha, the Lord of the Seven Hills, arrived at Mulund on 16th of this month. The 8’-6” tall idol of the Lord, superbly crafted out of the black granite and weighing about 4 tonnes, was brought all the way from Kanchi puram, Tamil Nadu. Waiting at Mulund to give a grand reception were Kulapati Vidyasimhacharya, pandits, students of the Vidyapeetha, members of the institute, devotees and musicians; they brought the idol in procession accompanied by the chanting of Vedic hymns, singing of bhajans and traditional music. The idol, placed in horizontal position, in an open truck, attracted passers-by, in hundreds, who offered flowers at the feet of the lord all along the route and ladies, standing at the gates of the buildings on the way, performed aarati as the procession passed, lending an other worldly dimension to the evening atmosphere. The procession terminated at the Satyadhyana Vidyapeetha where, Kulapatiji performed pooja and aarati and the idol was placed in the mail hall of the Vidyapeetha which will become the temple precincts. All present were so ecstatic that they offered obeisance to the Lord by prostrating and touching His feet. The news of the arrival of the Lord spread like wild fire and devotees rushed to the Vidyapeetha to have darshan of the Lord; the rush continued till late night. There has been a regular flow of devotees since then. Pooja was performed every morning and evening followed by aarati by Kulapatiji, who, in the evening, gave discourses, in brief, on the Venkatesh Kalyan. After the initial pooja performed for four days, the idol was shifted to a specially constructed cement tank in the hall on 20th March, for the treatment followed as per tradition thus preparing for final installation on 01-05-09. His Holiness Sri1008 Sri Satyatma Teertha Swamiji of the Uttaradi Mutt has graciously consented to do pratishshthapana of the idol. With best regards, Ramachandra Tammannacharya Gutti. 9819550626.
