Guest guest
Rishaba Deva (Srimad Bhãgavatam Adhyaaya 5) Rushaba Deva, the paramathma’s one of the incarnation of Paramathma, born to Nabhiraja and Merudevi, when King Nabhiraja worshipped and prayed for a son equal to Paramathma. In swayambhuva manvantara, Yajna naamaka bhagavantha was the Indra. He himself is now in the avathara of Rushaba. Nabhiraaja, doing tapassu, asked Bhagavantha to give him a son, who is equal to Bhagavantha. There is no one equal to Bhagavantha, so bhagavantha came himself. After Rushabhadeva was born, Naabhiraaja could not recognize him as the incarnation of Vishnu. He was calling him as son, vatsa, etc., and treated him as son only. Subsequently, seeing the popularity of Rushabadeva among his people, Nabhiraja left for Vishala Badari alongwith his wife, leaving the kingdom to Rushabadeva. Rushabadeva also observed Gurukulavasa and learnt all Vedas and shastras. In this incarnation, paramathma preached Dharma for Jnanis. Once Indradeva did not send rain to Rushabadeva’s land called Ajanabha. Then, he brought rains to his land through his yogic power. He married Jayanthi, daughter of Indradeva(incarnation of Lakshmi) (Jayanthi is the sister of Jayantha). He got hundred sons. Of these, the eldest and noblest was Bharatha. Amongst his sons Kavi, Hari, Antariksha, Pippalayana, Avirhotra, Drumila, Chamasa and Karabhajana, who were termed as Navayogis and were called as Jaayanteyaru. These Navayogis became teachers of the path of Bhakthi. Their Upadeshas can be seen in Srimadbhagavatha Ekadasha Skanda. Remaining 91 children were also called as Jayanteyaru, who performed nirantara Yajna, observing Gruhastaashrama, as Brahmanaas. Rushabadeva’s upadesha to his sons - “This human body is not meant for enjoyment. Worshipping Jnanis is the gateway for moksha. We should never hate any animals. We have our Amongst the objects living beings like plants are superior to non-living things; amongst living beings, creatures with consciousness are superior to plants; man is superior amongst creatures with consciousness; superior to man are 'bhootas' and 'pishachas'; higher than these are the Gandharvas, Siddhas and Kinnaras; Asurãs are superior to them; Devãs are superior to Asurãs; Indra occupies the highest place amongst the Devas; the sons of Brahma like Daksha are superior to Indra; Rudra is the greatest amongst the sons of Brahma and Brahma is greater than Rudra. Brahma worships Vishnu (myself). And I am Bhaktaparaadheena and devotee of Brahmans (Brahmanosya mukhamaaseeth):. Rishaba Deva before closing his avathara, gave his kingdom to his son Bharatha and retired to a hermitage, where he led a life of such severe austerity and abstinence, that he became a mere "collection of skin and fibres, and went the way of all flesh." He was wandering from place to place as a sanyaasi, with the avadootha charya, without taking food, shelter timely. This avathara is only for asura jana mohanaartha. He was behaving as if he is a blind, deaf, dumb. Rushabadeva was moving just like a crow, doing malamootra visarjana like a cow, drinking water and eating any where. But one must note that paramathma has aprakrutha deha. How he can have prakrutha mala mootra dosha. This is just asura jana mohanaartha. In this way, Rushabadeva was telling “ I am Vasudevaâ€. This was seen by one Mr ARHA, who misunderstood the tatva of Rushabadeva and he mixed “aham brahmasmi†tatva of Advaita and made the prachara of “arha mathaâ€. That is how Jaina matha came into existence. Some of the people followed Rishaba Deva and accepted him as their first Thirthankara and he was regarded as the first guru for Jains.
