NamaskaraIt was a wonderful function attended by hundreds of devotees (and some of them had come from far off places like Ohio, Virginia,  Washington DC and Connecticut driving many hours)

All the devotees thoroughly participated and enjoyed the function. The pictures and brief video clips doesn't do much justice but yet gives a glimpse of what happened. Please see the photo album and brief video clips of the KalyaanOthsava held at Shri Krishna Vrundaavana, Edison, New Jersey on Sunday, May 24th, 2009.

Dear Devotees,      Shri Krishna Vrundaavana in New Jersey is conducting on Sunday, May 24th, 2009. - ShrinivAsa KalyaaNa

This KalyaanOthsavA is the fascinating story of the wedding between Shri MahALakshmi in the form of PadmAvathi with Shriman NaaraayaNa in in the form of Venkateshwara.  This Shrinivasa roopa is considered the chaturyuga-murthy, meaning that He is worshipped in all the four yugA-s and believed to provide immense phala to all devotees. Many Puranas extol the greatness of the ShrinivAsa KalyaaNa especially the BhavishyOthara Purana.  It provides a detailed composition of the wedding, making one feel transposed to that time.   Since the beginnings of Daasa Sahithya all the great Daasa-s have composed 100s of texts in prose and poetry on ShrinivAsa KalyaaNa; this includes the Karnataka Sangeetha PithAmahA Shri Purandara Daasa of the 15th Century.

As in the shasthra-s, Akaasha Raaja marries off his daughter PadmAvathi to Lord ShrinivAsa.  Many great souls at that time gathered to witness this unique event.  Among those present were Brahma, Vaayu, Rudra, all the DevathA-s, Rishi-s, GandharvA-s, and Chakravarthi-s.

According to shasthra-s, in kali-yugA majority of souls seek happiness and satisfaction in the material realm and most of the times forget the real doer (the Lord Himself, within all).  It is our responsibility and duty to make every attempt to understand His greatness, which alone will help us attain higher levels of self- and God realization.  What better way is there to get drowned in happiness than the re-living of that wedding?

Devotees, who get selflessly immersed in the Smarane (recollection) of this grand wedding of the Lord and attempting to realize His Gunas (qualities), are sure to be gifted with all happiness.  Devotees who perform this uthsavA are sure to obtain Venkatesha prasaada as declared in BhavishyOthara Purana, thus making their lives a celebration.

This KalyaanOthsavA will be performed in the traditional way.  The wedding will be accompanied by veda-manthra-s, daasa songs, and instrumental music, followed by grand MahA-Pooja.

We urge everybody to make most of this opportunity when ShrinivAsa KalyaaNa will be held in pomp and celebration at Krishna Vrundavana.  We wish for all of you to come forward and offer your support to make it a grand and successful event.
