Guest guest
Vrikodarana Vrittanta A short play on Bheemasena Devaru Review by Chippagiri Mohan Kudos to “Dasaharama†Team who presented the beautiful drama titled “Vrikodarana Vrittanta, a short play on Bheemasena Devaruâ€. This play is brought in association with The Structural School of fine arts. The play is written and directed by Prof. Sri Ranganath Bharathwaj. The author has consulted Mahabharata Tatparya Nirnaya of Sri Madhwacharya to narrate the authentic version of the story of Bheema. These are the days where many people are addicted to television programs. At this juncture, “Dasaharama†took a great step in bringing this play to us. With the summer vacation in its last leg, the timing of the play could not have been better. Children of various ages greatly enjoyed the play. The fight sequences between Bheema and villains such as Bakasura, Keechaka and Duryodhana were very gripping. The conversation of two pretas in the last scene was very entertaining. One of the highlights of this drama is that the characters are played by professionals like doctors and engineers and they have enacted as if they are professionals in the field. The author of the play giving introduction to the concept behind the stage design and the play is one of the highlights of this drama. Two characters “Doddanna†and “Chikkanna†played a major role in narrating the story of this drama. The story of Mahabharata unwinds with the conversation between “Doddanna†and “Chikkannaâ€. The interesting feature of the play is that it is during these conversations that few critical and unsaid things about the story are explained. The auditorium was jam-packed and audiences maintained pin drop silence. For certain sequences the audience encouraged the actors and actresses by clapping. The music played thru the system and sounds are also appropriate according to the situations. The presidential address given by Sri Rachuri Achar was excellent. In his own inimitable style, he gave couple of interpretations to the word Mahabharata to mean the “Story of Bheemaâ€. He also gave some important suggestions so that the narration of the story is more in line with the Nirnaya given by Sri Madhwacharya in his Mahabharta Taptarya Nirnaya. The author of the play accepted Sri Achar’s suggestions. Afterwards the Sri Rachuri Achar blessed the actors and actress and also the author. The Sunday evening went of well in enjoying watching the drama with family and friends. The Dasaharama team did an excellent job in bringing this drama to all Madhwas. Right from issuing e-Passes in a unique way to arrangements at the theater, the team exhibited lot of professionalism. We hope that the team would bring us more such interesting events in coming days. I had a chance to view the drama last weekend at Suchitra Film Society, Banashankari II Stage. After seeing the drama I wanted to share the beauty of this drama and I congratulate the whole team in organizing this drama. You can reach Dasasharma team at dasasharma.ning.com.
