Guest guest
Sri Vijayendra Theertha's 414th aradhana was 3 weeks ago, and I would like to share some thoughts about his contribution and the contribution of a few other Madhva sanyasis with respect to Saivism. Srimad Acharya gave us an impenetrable philosophy (Oliver Lacombe).Sri Jayatheertha gave us the information that " Swatantro Bhagawan VishnuH " is the best summary of Srimad Acharya's 37 works.Soon after, the Saivaites pointed out that concept of God, as independence manifested, is already available in Saivism. The focus thus shifted from philosophy to theology. Sri Sakarshana theertha the 3rd pontiff, in Padmanabha Theertha's lineage, travelled to kashmir, to fight against Kashmir Saivism, and attained brindavan at Srinagar itself. Sri Punyasloka Theertha, the 3rd pontiff of Shirur Mutt, travelled to Kumbakonam, re-established Madhwa Siddhantha and attained brindavan at Kumbakonam itself.Sri Amarendra Theertha, the 4th pontiff of Pejawar Mutt travelled to Melacauvery at Kumbakonam, and established Amarendrara Agrahara. Sri Vedanidhi Theertha, the 6th pontiff of Adamar Mutt attained Brindavan at Amarendrara Agrahara. Nitya puja is performed at this Brindavana.Sri Vibhudendra Theertha's mission was to fight Advaita/Saivam, as seen in his charamasloka. His missionary pilgrimage route is traceable in the book history of Taulavas by BAS (1936). He is the Mulapurusha of Rayar mutt. Vibhudendraru reincarnated as vijayendraru, as per Vijayeendra kavya of Madhva Kavi.In the interim period1486 - 1539, Sri Vadirajaru through his Sarasabharati Vilasa, established the theological supremacy of Vishnu. Sri vijayendraru saw the need to posit himself at Kumbakonam as there was threat of Veerasaivism also.Through his 104 works, Sri Vijayendraru took the agamas on which Dvaita and Saivism were based. In essence, swamiji's arguments were based on the fact that the Saiva Aagamas have an utterance by siva that there is somebody above him, thus falsifying the stand " Swatantro Bhagavan SivaH " . Any repetition of futile attacks on Vayuvaishnavism were ensured by Bhashyadeepkacharyaru and his disciples.I submit:Pratamo Anandatheertha NamaHDviteeyo Vadiraja evachaVibudendra-Vijayendra Theerthasyasthu Rjuguna paramparaH - B.
