request for information on gotras, pravaras, sutras etc.

I again request some learned members to kindly explain the meaning of the above

terminologies. When i say i am from angirasa gotra what does it mean? Is it that

i am a direct descendant of Sage Angirasa? Likewise what does pravara indicate?

Is Thrashreya pravara a branch of angirasa gotra? What is the significance of

sutra for eg what does ashwalyana sutra indicate?

 

I am sure i shall get a logical explanation from some of the learned scholars of

the group.

 

I shall be grateful for the knowledge.
