DHAANAM: Worshipping a vaidhika Brahamana or Purohitha, offer vayana dhana.  iMdirA pratigR^ihaNAti idirA vai dadAti cha | iMdirA tArakA dvAbhyAmiMdirAyainamo namaH ||  bhAratIramaNa mukhyaprANAntargata shrI laxmInArAyaNa prItiM kAmayamAnastubhyamahaMsaMpradade na mama na mama  Next day, perform punar pooja to the kalasa with panchopacharas showering Manthrakshatha chanting the following mantra perform visarjana i.e. consign into water.  यनà¥à¤¤à¥ देव गनासरà¥à¤µà¥‡ पूजमातय मधà¥à¤¥à¤¾à¤‚ इशà¥à¤Ÿ कामà¥à¤¯à¤°à¥à¤¤ सिदà¥à¤¦à¥à¤¯à¤°à¥à¤¤à¤®à¥ पà¥à¤¨à¤°à¤¾à¤—मनय च॥ yantu deva ganAsarve pUjamAtaya madhkR^thAM ishTa kAmyarta siddyartam punarAgamanaya cha ||  41.  VARALAKSHMI KATHA  The sootha Pournikas narrated the origin of this most excellent vratha to the assembled Rishis in Naimsaranya. It was as follows:            In Kailasa, in the syvian surroundings, Rudra devaru & Devi Parvathi were conversing.  Parvathi devi asked of the Lord to tell her about the best & most beneficial vrata that would bestow all hearts desires to the human beings. Lord Shiva in his benevolence narrated the origin & the time & method of performing the Varalakshmi vratha which He described as the best of vrathas.            In the Saurashtra Kingdom, the reigning Queen was Rani Suchandira. She once insulted Devi Lakshmi because of which she lost all her wealth & status. Her daughter Charumathi who lived in the city of Kundina, was devoted to her husband & to his parents serving them with devotion & kindness. Devi Lakshmi was pleased with her piety & sincerity & decided to help her. She appeared in her dream & told her to perform the Varalakshmi vratha on the Friday prior to Sravana month Pournami (Full Moon).            Charumathi awoke from her sleep & described her dream to others & prepared to perform Varalakshmi vrata as detailed by Devi Lakshmi. On Friday prior to Sravana month Pournami, Charumathi installed a Kalasa with Mahalakshmi’s face engraved on it, in a beautifully decorated mantapa with the base spread with paddy over which a plate filled with rice, the kalasa being placed on it. The kalasa being filled with precious stones, gold, rice with a bunch of Mango leaves placed at the mouth of the kalasa. A coconut was kept on the mouth. This kalasa was adorned with jewels flowers etc… Charumathi then prepared number of sacred threads with nine knots near the kalasa & performed puja of these threads & distributed to assembled sumangalis & tied one to her right hand.            She made her mother Rani Suchandira also to join her in performing the Varalaxmi puja & vratha. Goddess Mahalakshmi was pleased with Charumathi’s devotion & sincerity & bestowed on her all wealth, health, long married life & happiness. Her mother also got back her wealth & status. The nine knots represents the Asta lakshmi & Varalakshmi. Charumathi then gave dhakshine to Brahmins & performed anna dhana.            This Varalaxmi vrata is very beneficial & will bestow all happiness.            The details & origin of this vrata is found in the Bhavishyottara purana.  VARALAKSHMI MAHIMA  Sri Lakshmi is the consort of Mahavishnu. She resides in the heart of Vishnu as Sri Lakshmi. When she sits on Vishnu’s lap, she is called SRI. She is the presiding Diety of all non living matter, space, the Vedas. She is the presiding diety of thoughts & Speech. She is the presiding diety of wealth & the Sathwa guna. In each of the avataras of Mahavishnu, she manifests Herself as his consort.  In the Mathsya avatara, SHE is “Mathsyi†In the Parasurama avatara, SHE is “Harini†In the Rama Avatara, SHE is “Sita†In the Krishna avatara, SHE is “Rukmini†In the other avataras, SHE is “Lakshmi† Sri Lakshmi is eternal, capable of three powers of creation, protection & annihilation WITH THE GRACE OF SRI MAHAVISHNU.            Whenever Her benign look is directed that place becomes filled with all wealth health & happiness.  Performing of this Varalakshmi vrata will bestow all these   bhAratIramaNa mukhyaprANAntargata shrI viShNuH prIyatAM shrI kR^iShNArpanamastu  -- parameshvara bhaktirnAma niravadhika ananta anavadya kalyANaguNatva GYAnapUrvakaHsvAtmAtmIya samasta vastubhyo aneka guNAdhiko antarAya sahasrenApya pratibaddo nirantara premapravAhaH ------------- a verse from Nyaya Sudha Devotion to the Lord is that continuously surging flood of deep love & attachment to the Lord of the Universe, which is impregnable by any amount of obstacles encountered in its march. It should be of such a quality & texture as would transcend all other forms of love which one may bear towards one's own self, or to his nearest & dearest ones in life, or to his most cherished possessions. It should be founded on an unshakable intellectual & emotional conviction in the Majesty of the Lord- as the embodiment of all spiritual excellences.
