Floods around Mantralayam - bandaddella barali, rAghavEndrara daya ondirali !

Further to the reports below, few of us at cc, have had a conference call among ourselves today at 9pm IST.

First thing we would like request you all is to not to heed to various rumours about loss of people and goods.

The situation was at its worse during most of today, but reliable sources have confirmed about the receeding levels of water.

SRS Mutt SrigaLu is safe, got airlifted to Raichur along with the samsthAna dEvara pettige and is personally overseeing the

relief / evacuation efforts.

While there have been multifold efforts to rescue people, from various quarters - Govt of Karnataka, Govt of AP, Indian Air Force,

para military, SRS Mutt Administration, volunteers and Rayara devotees, etc some of us would be coming together to express our sincere and humble readines to serve if need be.

Some of the updates are -

1. Sandeep, Pavan and Bindu have met up with Sri Pejavar SrigaLu and he has personally commited to make this happen to press the action from State and Central Govts. He is right now expressed his readiness to physically be available at the affected site with other volunteers

2. Another thing of concern is the decision taken (or to be taken) at Hospet TB Dam to open up the gates - the timing and out flow !

3. Sri Vitthal Joshi is in constant touch with the Kurnool District Administration, SP, and few more HYD based beurocrats to make the best use of the available support.

4. Sri Suyameedrachar and Sri Rajagopalachar are around MNT, ensuring the relief operations, its still not accessible by road.

5. Another concern is now of those people who are stranded on top of the buildings, waiting for the water to recede, who might need some immediate assistance on food, warm clothing and medicines. Since it was a long weekend, there could be a rush of people than a normal days and also the oncoming event of Sri Sushmeendra Theerthara brindavana kalAkarshaNe.

6. as of now MNT is totally cut off from the external world with no road access, no cell phone, land lines, no electricity .....

While we all continue to do 'prArthane' on the safe being of people stranded at MNT and other places due to floods,

we would now get into offering our kara sEve towards 'prayathna' with the grace of Sri Hari Vayu GurugaLu.

We have decided to meet up at JNR 5th Block SRS Mutt on Saturday morning 8am IST, to have a session of Sri Hari Vayu Stuthi parayane and Rayara Ashtotthara. While we gather for this prArthane, our prayathna is also to gather up interested and committed people who are willig to offer their thanu, mana sEva over next few days if need be to by physically available at MNT to carry out things as the situation demands.

This is an appeal to all of you and request to pass on the same to your other Madhwa Bandhus, to attend, participate and be part of this event and help us help people.

Any further updates as appropriate would be shared by any of the people in cc as and when they happen.

The last official message I recieved from Raghunandandana Sharma PRO, SRS mutt on 2nd October 2009 at 00:05 am IST from mantralayam is that water has entered the Garbha Gudi, but Rayaru brindavana is not under water. Situation in Mantralaya is really worst. I am in continues touch with my relatives in Mantralaya. Rayara Brindavana and mutt are completely sunk in water. I am appalled at the " Floods around Mantralayam " and read about its impact in and around the neighborhood.

I am sure manyÂ are working round-the-clock to restore normalcy. As humanitarian gesture, I would like to contribute towards any fund-raising effort that might be setup to help the needy. I will appreciate if someone in this large network of devotees can forward information on such an organization, so that i can donate in US dollars in USofA.
