Dear Devotees of Guru Raghavendra,

 

There are lots and lots of Good News to report, I spoke to Vittal Joshi avaru

and Raghu Nandana Sharma and Here are the updates:

 

1) There was rumor that more water was going to be released from THungabadra

Dam, Sri Vital Joshi avru called Chief engineer and got assurances from him that

since the water is 600 feet below danger lever, the water will not be released

and flooding will not occur at Mantralayam due to this.

 

 

2) Vital Joshi avaru and other Mantralayam team members have been in

Mantralayam since yesterday Night and have been sleeping on the 1st floor, they

have assessed the entire mantralayam area for damages.There are 30 members at

Mantralayam Matha now.

 

3)  All water has been now drained from the Mutt premises.

 

 

4) All brindavanas are now water free completely, including shree sushmeendra

theertharu brindavana

 

5) All temporary. sheds created were washed away

 

6) Few buses and cars were washed way and deposited in the middle of Mantralayam

 

7) Based on silt deposit it was found that Water entered upto Korma peetha of

the brindavana/5 feet from the ground, Brindavana at no point was ever fully

submerged

 

8) Many tulsi plants planted in tulsi garden behind the matha are dead.

 

9) Vital Joshi avaru has brought lots of medicines with him and Mutt doctor is

now treating people in Mantralayam .

 

10) Clean up effort is taking place in Mantralayam and is expected to take 7

days

 

11) It is request from the SRS Mutt that devotees not visit Mantralayam until

October 11th as the Mutt needs time to clean up and restore the divine village

of Mantralayam, Please understand that there is no danger from floods any longer

at Mantralayam as water has receded

 

12)  Moola Brindavana Archakas are going to THungabadra to get the thungha

river water for abhisheka of the Moola Brindavana

 

13) Sri Raghavendra Swamy Mutt has setup a remote camp in Yemiganallur where

1000 people are housed and fed everyday. Mutt is buying groceries and feeding

the stranded with fresh food both in Mantralayam and Yemingallur. Bus was

ferried from Mantralayam to Yemingallur to relocated people yesterday. There

housed in a Kalyanmathapa which was built recently.

 

14) There were no dead bodies found as reported in some media at Mantralayam

 

15) The elephants are safe

 

16)  The 1st floor which stored artifacts of Mantralayam Matha was safe and

hence no damage was ever done to the Historical artifacts that Sri Raghavendra

Swamy Mutt had.

 

17) There is no power in Mantralayam and Vittal Joshi avaru is planning to get

remote generators to power up the Matha and help in the clean up work.

 

18)Sri RaguNanadana sharma gave me first hand account of his rescue from

Mantralayam through the chopper and how swamiji helped others before helping

himself and also how he personally oversaw and fed 1000 people when Mantralayam

was flooded 2 days ago and he told me that at no point the Sri Raghavendra Swamy

Moola Brindavana was ever fully submerged.

 

Please understand that at this Point Sri Raghavendra Swamy Mutt, Mantralayam has

not authorized any individuals or organizations to collect Money on behalf of

the Matha for rescue efforts at Mantralayam.

 

Sri Vittal Joshi  avaru will soon update us what kind of help is needed and how

we can send money/material to help this cause. Should you have any questions

regarding this bulletin; please contact me and I will be glad to further assist

you.

 

I kindly request you all not to visit Mantralayam until October 11th 2009, so

that Sri Raghavendra Swamy Matha can clean and sanitize Mantralayam , so

visitors can start visiting.
