Guest guest Posted October 6, 2009 Report Share Posted October 6, 2009 Dear Devotees of Guru Raghavendra, October 7th 2009Time: 01:00 am , India Time Here is the latest official update from Mantralayam SRS Mutt (treat this as an official communique from SRSMUTT, Mantralayam), lot of progress has been made and lot more to be done: 1) Pejawar Swamiji and Sri Raghavendra Mutt Swamiji visited the villagesaffected by flooding around Mantralayam. 2) Sri Raghavendra Mutt Swamiji invited the flood affected victims and have 2meals a day at the Annapoorna Food bank run by SRS mutt for next 1 month. 3) SRS Mutt is already feeding at least 6000 villagers a day. 4) RSS and TTD have come forward and helped in the rehabilitation efforts. 5) Pejawar Mutt swamiji was surprised to see minimal damage inflicted on thestructure of Manatralayam SRS Mutt's buildings. 6) Most of the damage was inflicted on Shop keepers and other villagersbelongings being lost. 7) Govt has provided Fire engines, who will hose and clean the buildings ofSRS Mutt from Silt and Dirt deposited by Tungabhadra river flooding. 8) Main bridge linking Raichur and Mantralayam is severely damaged and maytake up to 1 year to rebuild. If devotees have to visit Mantralayam from Raichurthey have to take longer route which will be 43 Kms. 9) SRSMUTT is working with Government to enhance the flood wall inMantralayam, so such disasters can be averted in the future. 10) SRS MUTT has had damage inflicted to ground floors of SRSMUTT lodges andchoultries and Bed and other items in the rooms seems to have been damaged. 11) SRS Mutt had stored food items expecting 1 lakh devotees for the upcomingKalakarshana of Sushmeendra Theertharu Swamiji, the food items were entirelywiped out. This loss could tally close to 50 lakhs. 12) Many computers and other office supplies and items were damaged inSRSMUTT. 13) Structural engineering experts to visit this weekend to see asses theexact scientific structural damage if any to the SRS Mutt buildings inMantralayam. 14) Swamiji has setup fund for collecting money for rehabilitation anddetails will be provided tomorrow. 15) Many ministers have visited Mantralayam and have pledged their support dueto increasing pressure from the general public to do something. 16) Sri Vithal Joshi avaru is in touch with people who can provide medicinesfor treating the sick in Mantralayam. There are doctors stationed there takingcare of treating the sick with the medicine supply there. 17) The ministers have promised to provide 10 crore rupees to the Matha forrehabilitation of Mantralayam, which would include cost for extending theflood wall, rehabilitating the Shop Keepers and compensating the villagers fortheir loss and loss of material in SRSMUTT.
