Kumaraswamy visited the Vidyapeetha and paid obeisance to the Brindavana of 12th century saint and philosopher Sri Madhwa Tirtha, Sri Vedesha Tirtha and Sri Govind Vodeyar.Mr. Kumaraswamy visited the Vidyapeetha and Brindavana which was submerged in the floods, to assess the damage. He was received by Vice-Chancellor of the Vidyapeeta, Anantacharya Akkamanchi, to the singing of Vedic hymns by the 40-odd students of the Vidyapeetha. Mr. Kumaraswamy sanctioned Rs. 25,000 from his personal funds to Vidyapeetha to compensate the loss of foodgrains stored there for students. He promised to look into the demands for providing funds for development of Vidyapeetha, which was founded by Vedesha Tirtha in 15th century.Courtesy: The HINDU 24th Aug 2006.] Krishna Dwaipayana Teertha originally belonged to Chincholi(Gulbarga district of Karnataka) on his completing the studies and training he visited kanchi at a time when Sri Vedavyas Teertha, the then Pontiff of the Uttaradi Mutt, had been camping there, Like his predecessor, Sri Raghuthama Teertha, Sri Vedavyas Teerta was also a highly learned person. It is said that during his pilgrimage on North India, he was honoured by the Emperor of Delhi(Hastinapur). Sri Vedavyas Teertha was highly impressed by Krishna Dwaipayana Teertha scholastic ability and knowledge and therefore, bestowed on his the "Sanyas Deeksha". He organized the Daily worship (poojas) by Sri Krishna Dwaipayana Teertha, for a few days. Subsequently, the Swamiji presented to him the precious idol of 'Lord Digvijaya Rama' and sent him on a mission to propagate Madhva philosophy in different parts of the country.Subsequently during his visits to Mannur, he met one Sri Seenappa Nayak. The Swamiji was impressed by Seenappa Nayak's scholastic abilities deep devotion and above all his renouncement of worldly comforts and gave him 'Sanyas Diksha'. He was renamed as Sri Vedesh Teertha(Sheenappa) Nayak was the eldest son of the famous Sri Raghappa Nayak, the local Shroff ). Vedesha Teertha gave training and religious education to his younger brother Yadappa (alias Yadavarya) Nayak. Yadavarya led a pious and devout life for 105 years and achieved unique place in the hierarchy of Mahava followers due to his great scholastic ability. He attained moksha (salvation) at Yakkundi, after a long and saintly life. Vedesh Teertha continued his work and mission from Mannur and entered holy Brindavana there. Due to his great commentaries on several works of Acharya. Sri Yadavarya also known as Yadapatyacharya.Sri Varadarajacharya(II), was fortunate of being in the company of having the blessing from great saints, sages and thinkers like Vidyadheesha, Sri Krishna Dwaipayan, Raghavendra Teertha and Vedesh Teertha. However at the fag end of his life, Sri Vardarajacharya had to witness many unexpected and unpleasant and difficult times such as death of Shivaji as also his son Sambaji, fall of Maratha rule. Hegemony of Aurangzeb, the Mughal Emperor, and consequent political upheaval which caused terrible mental agony to him. He therefore had to take to philosophy and spend rest of his life in seclusion and privacy. It is inferred that he would have laid his life around 1695 A.D.Sri Satyabhinava Tirtha who had taken over the peetha just then invited ...
