If one takes the bath after the stars are not visible the effect is considered as “ Medium”. Taking bath after this is considered as not fruitful. For the phala praapti of the said snana, it is said: Maagha snaanamidam PoorNa SnaasyEhaM dEva maadhava Theerthasyaasya JalE nithyaM Iti saMkalpa chEtasi: Reciting above saMkalapa one should perform snanna for one month Dukha daaridya naashaaya Shree vishNOsthOShaNaaya cha Makarasthe ravau maaghE Govindyaachyutha Maadhava SnaanEnaanena Me dEvaa YathokathaphaladhO bhava Reciting the above Mantra one should perform Snanam observing “ Mauna” After Bath Savitre Prastavatre Cha ParaMdhaama JalE Mama TwatEjasaa pariBraShtam Paapam yaatu sahasradhaa Reciting the above give Sooryaraghya and Pitru tarpaNaadi. After finishing Nithya kaarya perform Sri TrivENi Maadhava Pooja. In this month eating Havisjaanya, sleeping on the floor, TilaGhruta Homa and observing Bramhacharya are considered as the ways for “ Mahaa pahala” Giving dana in the form of “ country wood”,” Woolen KaMabaLi” Clothes, Padaraksha, Rice and gold are considered as giving “ mahaa Phala” Every day Danam should be given mixing 3 portions of Til (ELLu) with one portion of sugar. Those who cannot afford to perform Snaanam for the whole month he must do at least for three days at the end called “ Mahodaya YoGa”. During Pushya or Maagha Maasa (1) Sunday viz 20th .27th Decr 3rd Jan,10 Jan 17th,24th ,31st Jan.7th and 14th Feb (2) Amavaasya 15th Jan 14th FEb (3) Vyatipaata Yoga 24th Decr 18th Jan, 12th Feb (4) shravaNa Nakshatra- 20th decr16-17th Jan 13th Feb Out of these four, any one lacking in them, is considered as “Mahodaya Yoga” During that “ Kaala”, performing Snanam, daanam, Pitru TarapaNa and such “ PuNya Kaarya” are considered as ShreshTa. It is also said that the effect of this would be of greater effect than desired that all would perform snaam during this period at the time indicated above.
