Guest guest
Madhwa’s Teachings. 21-12-09. Proposed jnyana satra -2009 at Satyadhyana Vidyapeetha from 25-12-09 to 29-12-09. Dear Reader, Vidwan Vidyasimhacharya, Kulapati, Satyadhyana Vidyapeetha, conducts jnyana satra, every year, for the purpose of initiating more people into and revival of interest in philosophical pursuits among the community members. The jnyana satras wherein the Vidwan explains in detail theology described in scriptures like the Vedic sooktas and the upanishads, and of its modus operandi of regulation of life on the material plane and also of means to achieve greater spiritual progress in the contemporary life of strife have, over a period of time, been instrumental in helping a large number of aspirants, young and old alike, to turn inward and lead a purposeful life. Normally, the Vidwan selects a holy place, a place of pilgrimage, for appropriate atmosphere, change of place and also for teertha yatra, which helps one earn merit. So far, he has conducted jnayana satras at different holy places like, Tirumala, Malakhed, Shrirangam and Shurpali, to name a few. This year, however, the Vidwan has decided to conduct it at the Satyadhyana Vidyapeetha, Mumbai. This year’s jnyana satra, in fact, is an extension of the earlier one. In 2008, it was held at Tirumala, the Abode of the Lord Venkatesha and now it is going to be held at the Vidyapeetha where the Idol of the Lord has been installed by His Holiness Shri Satyatma Teertha Swamiji. On the last occasion, he gave discourse on the Aitareya Upanishad Bhashya. He was in such high spirits, that he got carried away and went on explaining the deeper meanings of the Upanishad bhashya with such minute details, that he could complete only fifty percent of the bhashya during the entire jnyan satra. He has decided to explain the remaining portion during the forthcoming jnyana satra The five- day programme of the jnyana satra from 25-12-2009 to 29-12-2009 will be as follows: From 6-00 am to 12-00 noon---Discourse on the Aitareya Upanishad bhashya by the Vidwan. with half an hour recess for breakfast from 9.00 am to 9.30 am. From 12-00 noon to 2-00 pm—Break for pooja, teertha prasada and rest. From 2-30 pm to 5-00 pm------ Discourses by other scholars. From 6-00 pm to 8-00 pm------ Continuation of the discourse by the Vidwan. Participants will stay at the Vidyapeetha premises during the jnyana satra. They are, therefore, advised to bring bedding and adequate clothing. The dates of the jnyana satra have been fixed taking into account requirements of even serving people. The first three days- 25th, 26th and 27th December are holidays on account of Christmas, fourth Saturday and Sunday respectively. They can attend the jnyana satra availing of Casual Leave for only two days succeeding the holidays. Madhwa’s Teachings appeals to the readers to attend the forth coming jnyana satra at the Satyadhyana Vidyapeetha, if possible and if not, request their friends and relatives to attend it. It is hoped that maximum number of people will attend the jnyana satra that will surely help them attain higher spiritual progress. With best regards, Ramachandra Tammannacharya Gutti. 9819550626.
