Guest guest
Hare Srinivasa!ayussu iddare annakke koratilla | jIvakke eMdeMdige tanugaLu koratilla | saavu huTTu eMbo sahaja lOkadoLage | kaalakaaladi hari kalyaaNaguNagaLa | kELadavana janma vyartha puraMdaraviThala || In this ughaboga Sri Purandara Dasaru says If destiny favours life ,then there is no lack of food After death, there is no dearth of bodies for a soul In this mortal world where life and death form a natural course The life of that human whose time is not spent in listening to the exquisite infinte auspicious attributes of Lord Hari is indeed a life that is considered worthless Dasaru’s message ,†Don’t worry about providing for your future. As long as you live, or as long as you should live, the Lord will see to it that you have something to survive on. Your body will last only as long as the Lord wills it. Once the time is up, no amount of food , no amount of wealth, no property, no doctors, no relatives, none can come to one’s aid. In another devaranama Dasaru says, ‘chiMteyAke mADuthiddi chinmayaniddAne†Here Dasaru says ayssu iddare – Means –if you have time to live, lifespan-“Rest assured that you shall anyway live, somehow or other as long as Lord wills. Even if one spends all time in earning for the future, one can never be assured that one will be safe from sufferring. Sufferring cannot be allievated by any of our possessions. Only the Lord can allievate sufferring. The knowledge of this is what needs to be realised by chanting His name again and again. Chanting His glorious name and contemplating on each name’s infinite auspiciousness is the only thing that can keep one from sufferring. In another ughbhoga Sri Purandara Dasaru says, allada karmava Acharisidava keTTa ellaroLage virOdhisidava keTTa | …………………………. pullanaabha namma puraMdaraviThalana | mellaDi naMbadava keTTa naragEDi “ One who does prohibited acts is doomed. A person who harbours hatred in his mind is doomed and so on. Finally Dasaru says ,â€The lotus feet of the Lord Purandara vittala is ever ready to tread delicately in our heart , but those who mistrust this Lord are doomed.†Mistrust is the cause of all sufferring. And it is precisely because of this that Dasaru advises one to do guNananusandhana of the Lord ‘s auspicious attributes. Sufferring happens to people because of poorva pApa karmas accumulated over many janmas. This poorva karma’s results which the jiva is undergoing now is part of the prarabdha karma.Shastra says that this prarabdha is never discounted at any time. Even after aparOxa the jiva has to complete the store of prarabdha. So how can chanting help ? How can guNaanusandhana help? The attitude towards events in one’s life affects the sufferring quotient. That is what Dasaru wants to inculcate in the bhaktha. The assurance of God that He is there to take care, has to be flowing in one’s viens even as blood flows. If this blood flow stops, the creature dies, similarly if the flow of faith is stopped or disturbed it causes untold confusion to the soul. Absolute trust in God’s dispensation is a must . His nirvaishamya guNa is His swabhavika guna and is spontaneous to Him.The Lord ensures that very soul gets what it deserves and not anything else. The building of this attitude of trust occurs over repeated study of the guNas of the Lord and that is why Dasaru says , “hariya kalyANa gunagala kEladavana janma vyarthavOâ€. Time and again, such contemplation has to be undertaken. This constant association improves interest and concentration.More and more time should be spent for this. Then at a point of time, the soul becomes immersed only in this . Automatically all other things seem dull and useless. Only those moments immersed in the Lord’s contemplation seem worthwhile. For these sequence of events to occur it may take many many births. Lord Krishna says ,’ bahunAma janmanAm aMte jNAnavAn mAm prapadyaMte†The above is what Dasaru has said in the second line of this ughabhoga. ‘jIvakke eMdeMdige tanugaLu koratilla†. The process of enjoying sense pleasures happens as long as there is a body. So the tendency to make use of time to enjoy is inherent in all human beings. This needs to be overcome. Pleasure from the senses is a feature of all forms of lives and is not unique. But study and contemplation are unique to a human birth. Understanding that, helps to spend time more effectively. Further one fears that one’s life when exhausted, then all what one has done would be wasted. This is also countered with this state , ‘jIvakke eMdeMdige tanugaLu koratilla. Because in a future birth, wealth and property may not accompany one, but spiritual sadhana accompanies one. So it is said in the Bg by the Lord himself. nEhAbhikramanosti pratyavAyo na vidyate swalpamapyasya dharmasya trayatE mahatO bhayAt. (Gita 2/40) This statement of the Lord shows that our time and consious effort into acquiring knowledge would never be wated any time. but would tide us over fear of great calamity. The greatest calamity is the death. Fear of death is the biggest worry for all. This can be overcome with the knowledge the God as per one’s capacity will take care of all whether alive in a body or not. Fearing something which will anyway happen in the natural course of events prevents one from making full use of time fruitfully. So as just there is a cycle of day and night and noone ever cries over it becoming dark at night , but instead lights a lamp to prevent darkness, so also the cycle of birth and death needs to be accepted as a part of life and the steps to prevent fear of death need to be taken. In other words one needs to build one’s trust in the God and His Supreme control and benevolence on all . For this the chintana of His guNas is absolutely essential. Sri Purandara Dasaru warns one that if one does not engage in listening to this and contemplating on it then such a life is worthless. kaalakaaladi hariya kalyaaNaguNagaLa. kELadavana janma vyartha puraMdaraviThalasri krishnArpanamastuI am not the doer,Lord Hari is the doerEven so, whatever He makes me do is His worship by His graceR.Parimala Importing contacts has never been easier..Bring your friends over to Mail today!
