Namaskara,

I also checked Sri KrishnAmrutha maharnava & as per your mail,  the 4 conditions should be satisfied for Shravana upavasa.  In addition to Condition 2 mentioned below,  Friday,  Tryodashi starts after Sunrise.  When there is Mahapradosha present in the evening,  I noticed Madhwa panchangas in India for many years, they write in the calendar NO Vishnu Panchaka  shravana nakshatra upavasa on Mahapradosha, Shankasta Chaturthi days.  Though Sravana Nakshatra is present most of the time during Mahashivarathri,  we still do not do Vishnu panchaka upavasa on that day because it is Tryodashi.

Please see the mail below from Sri Yogeendra Bhat.

haraye namaH,

Shobha Srinivasan

NamaskaraFor Shravana Uapavasa we need Dwadashi Thithi and Shravana Nakshathra up to Abhijin Lagna (noon time).

So we do not have Shravana Upavasa on 12th. RegardsYogeendra Bhat

satsangha_east [satsangha_east ] On Behalf Of Bala Krishna

Shree harayE namaHNamaskara ..Per USA time zones, there is shravana naxatra on dwadashi day i.e  03/12. Per Shri Krishna Amrutha mahArNava, the following 4 conditions should be satisfied for shravaNa upavasa.

Condition 1. The shravana naxatara should not have contact with UttarAshAda naxatara on this day.Condition 2. The shravana naxatara should have contact with Dhanista naxatara on this day.

Condition 3. The Shravana naxatra should be present at Sunrise time.Condition 4. The sravana naxatra should be running through the afternoon on this day.For USA time zones, condition 2 is not satisfied and looks like there is no shravaNa upavasa on 03/12. However, I would kindly request the learned scholars to verify this and let us know your input.

Observations:Ekadashi is getting over on Thursday 03/11 at 06:21 AM EST / 03:21 AM PST. Dwadashi is getting over on Friday 03/12 at 09:05 AM EST / 06:05 AM PST.ShravaNa naxatra present the whole day on Thursday, 03/11.

For India, there is shravaNa upavAsa for all Shri Mathas.I would kindly request the learned scholars and let us know if we need to do sravaNa upavAsa on Thursday, 03/12.PS: This applies to individuals who follow times per USA time zones. For individuals who follow per IST, there is no confusion and the ekadashi is on 03/12, Thursday and Dwadashi on 03/13, Friday.

Thanks in advance,Best RegardsBala Krishna
