Guest guest
From the Single Eye to Inner Light & Spiritual Realms Gnostics and other Mystics understand that our soul's energy is dissipated and scattered in the material world of the five senses, but, when we gather up our divided energies and focus our attention inside, our spiritual vision opens up. There is a singleness of vision that leads to seeing the inner Divine Light. Mystics in the old religions of the Middle east understood this. The Dead Sea Scrolls, Corpus Hermeticum, Nag Hammadi Library, Pistis Sophia, Syrian and Egyptian mystical writings, Manichaean writings, Mandaean scriptures of Iraq, and many other ancient texts are filled with references to the God of Light, visions of Light, and souls traveling through various Heavens of Light. Gnostic gospels teach that God is Light, the soul is a spark of Divine Light, and that it's possible for souls to develop spiritual vision and contemplate this Divine Light. We all came from the Light, and will return there again (see Gospel of Thomas, saying 50). Contemplating Light is a form of transportation for the soul. If we can find this Single Eye and merge with the Light within, we will find ourselves being elevated spiritually, be made Divine, what the Eastern Orthodox Mystics call " Theosis. " We will be drawn back to the Kingdom of the Light again. When we contemplate this inner Light our soul is being Baptized in a River of Light that returns to our True Home in the heavenly realms. A Saying of Yeshua from " Pistis Sophia, " the book of Faith-Wisdom: " Do not cease seeking day or night, and do not let yourselves relax until you have found all the Mysteries of the Kingdom of Light, which will purify you and make you into Pure Light and lead you into the Kingdom of Light. " There's a great, easy to comprehend book of instructions on how to do this. This is from a section on seeing the Divine Light: " We need to realize the Light within us. It is like having a light blub. If you put four or five sheaths over it, pretty soon you will not see the light from the blub. So this process of concentration, this process of meditation, is one by which we try to remove these sheaths one by one. We try to go within so that we can see the Light within us. Once we see how much illumination there is within, we will automatically want to see more and more of it. " ( " Inner and Outer Peace Through Meditation, " Rajinder Singh) In this ancient form of meditation, one repeats various Names of God while concentrating in the darkness. The author says: " Our job is to sit calmly and quietly and lovingly gaze into the darkness lying in front of us. As we do so, the attention will automatically begin to collect at the Single Eye.....We should just go on repeating the Names and gazing. There are vistas and vistas of sights inside. As the sensory currents withdraw, we forget our body. When we are fully collected at the Eye-Focus, we become more fully absorbed in the field lying in front of us. We will begin to see some flashes of light, or lights of various colors. We should continue to gaze with full attention into the middle of whatever is lying in front of us....... " ( " Inner and Outer Peace Through Meditation, " Rajinder Singh, Element Books) James _________________ To get your own FREE ZDNet Onebox - FREE voicemail, email, and fax, all in one place - sign up today at http://www.zdnetonebox.com
