SILENCE________ If

you can be in silent quietness like a broken gong that is silent, you

have reached the peace of Nirvana and your anger is peace.

When with a mind in silent peace a monk enters his empty house, then

he feels the unearthly joy of beholding the light of truth.

When a man knows the solitude of silence,

and feels the joy of quietness,

he is then free from fear and sin

Being can be felt in the silence of the Soul.

The very best and utmost of attainment in this life

is to remain still and let God act and speak in thee.

In this silence, this quiet, the Word is heard.

There is no better method of approaching this Word

I do my utmost to attain emptiness, I hold firmly to stillness.

Returning to one's roots is known as stillness.

This is what is meant by returning to one's destiny.

Do you have the patience to wait

till your mud settles and the water is clear?

There must be a clear pond, or the Buddha cannot appear. Tao Sheng

 

Return, O my soul, to your rest;

for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you. David, Psalms 116.7

 

Ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is,

and walk in it, and find rest for your souls. Jeremiah 6.16

 

When, through the practice of yoga,

the mind ceases its restless movements,

and becomes still, he realizes the Atman.

Then he knows that infinite happiness

which can be realized by the purified heart

but is beyond the grasp of the senses. Krishna, Bhagavad Gita 6

 

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden,

and I will give you rest. Jesus, Matthew 11.28

 

Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me;

and you will find rest for your souls. Jesus, Matthew 11.29

 

Whoever enters God's rest

also ceases from his labors as God did from His.

Let us therefore strive to enter that rest. Hebrews 4.10-11

 

During zazen (meditation),

brain and conciousness become pure.

It's exactly like muddy water left to stand in a glass.
