Both ignorance and enlightenment are states of the mind, and the mind is

not an entity but a mere notion inferred by the memory of experience.

In deep sleep, Jan, where is the mind, conscious, subconscious, unconscious

et al?

Jan:

The subconscious mind never sleeps. It is very much active during deep

sleep monitoring the body, filing and sorting new things learned during the

day. It is the subconscious mind which wakes up the conscious mind in case

of emergency or in the morning.

Even learning can take place during deep sleep. Have you not heard of

'hypnopedia'? [if you do not believe me, you can look up this word in your

dictionary!] It is like switching off the monitor while your computer is

defraging the hard disk [in order to save electricity]. The monitor is fast

asleep but the computer [subconscious mind] is working ferociously beneath.

Also a person can be hypnotized to wake up at a particular time or on

hearing a particular sound even when the person is in deep sleep.

-------------------

Sandeep:

It was for an " event " much prior to the subconscious mind coming into

operation.

Jan:

The subconscious mind never shuts down.

------------------

Sandeep:

Mind cannot be quietened.

No-Mind may occur.

Jan:

Actually it is a shift of focus. 'I' instead of being entranced by what

appears in the conscious mind start to look beyond at the blank sheet.

Thoughts continue to appear and disappear in the consciousness but my

attention is now riveted on the reality behind it all.

-----------------

Sandeep:

And Ultimate Reality cannot be experienced.

Neither in degrees, and neither as a whole.

For it to " experienceable " , it has to be objectified.

And that is not possible.

We cannot apprehend Ultimate Reality because we have never been other than it.

We cannot integrate with Ultimate Reality because we are never

disintegrated from it.

In relative terms we can never understand what Ultimate Reality is.

The Whole-Mind cannot be known by the split-mind relativity.

Then what is the nature of " experiences " , both the mundane ones as well as

the profound spiritual ones, the latter, which, one has promptly labeled as

experiences of enlightenment " and is now ready to defend them till kingdom

come?

Just movements of Consciousness, through a conditioned body-mind complex,

the existing conditioning in the moment, being precisely that is needed to

produce the very " output " (experience that occurs) to an incoming input.

The whole process, as an " occurrence " in phenomenality.

And since phenomenality itself is a concept, anything that occurs within a

conceptual construct, can only be conceptual.

Like the profound love we discover in our night-sleep-dream, very real,

profoundly moving, while the dreaming is on.

Next morning, sipping a hot cup of tea........

It's like Water without losing it's nature, enjoying the beauty of

waves(symbolizing the illusory phenomenality) thereon.

Jan:

When a ship passes it leaves behind its wake. What a wake! The " movement of

Consciousness, through a conditioned body-mind complex " cannot be grasped

by the mind but it definitely leaves an impression. It brings a lot of

changes in the mind.

Jan,

In the state of the deep sleep, there is no iota of any of the nuances of the mind.

In fact the temporary absence of all compartments of the mind is the deep sleep.

The states, where you indicate unconscious learning, filing, sorting etc continuing to take place, are all states before the deep sleep state.

San:

Sure.

Any experience, whether it is the a mundane one or a profoundly spiritual one, "impacts" and alters the "conditioning-in the moment".

The impact on the "conditioning-in-the-moment" is such that the new "conditioning-in-the moment" is exactly what is needed to produce the next experience as an output in response to an input.

Being--> Becoming---> Being.

Games making up the Lila of Totality.

My home is beyond the Lila.

Cheers
