Guest guest
The persistent attempt to maintain belief/experience of a " me " who has qualities and goes through states *is* the suffering being discussed. " Seeking " in the context being discussed is equivalent to " believing/experiencing an ongoing existing self in time " ... whether or not the attempt to maintain such self is associated with beliefs that it is happily seeking, or unhappily seeking, or happily not-seeking, or unhappily not-seeking. It is ironic that the full extent of the suffering involved won't be clear, unless the basis (for any one who can have qualities such as suffering or existing happily) is not. In other words, the self-system depends on denial of reality, and the reality of what the suffering is, is an aspect of what reality is. Reality must be denied to make perceptual/experiential claims of continuity for individuals, things, and groups of individuals and things. -- Peace, Dan > What I do not understand is why a seeker is supposed > to suffer?
