Guest guest
Most non-dualists want to throw out duality completely. This they soon find is impossible. Say you have a piece of gold and a piece of copper. On the surface they are very different, have different values to human beings, etc. A scientist who has seen both on the sub-atomic level will tell you that both are the same underneath. However, there is no way he will exchange the gold for the copper. In the same way, the Reality is non-dual. However this non-dual reality has arranged itself in different patterns to form many dual items. [Atoms arranged differently form different elements with entirely different properties]. If a human has experienced non-duality and knows for certain the non-dual nature of everything surely you do not expect him to act different from the scientist above? Even Ramana still had ties with his mother and Nisargadatta with his family. The way some listers attack all dualistic pointers is as if they have no duality in themselves! Non-duality and duality are two sides of the same coin. There is no way you can get rid of one. In other words I can see the non-dual Reality underneath yet talk in dualistic ways. I can say " God is all " and " I love God " at the same time. ______________________ With Love, Cyber Dervish ````````````````````````````````````````
Guest guest
Duality seems apparent, but we say is not true. There is a strong feeling of lonliness, of feeling lost when there is an apparent duality. When this duality is not there, I feel connected and grounded. Most of the time duality is what seems to work. His house, her objects, my things etc. It is always a case of "us' and "them". That causes duality. In non-duality there is no "us" and "Them" in the same sense as in duality. Even in a non-dual state there is a "us' and "them" but not as a differentiation or aprtness but only make clear about where who is. In a non-dual state I can see that there are other people who may think act and feel different from me. There may be people who live elsewhere or people who take an opposite view from mine on an issue. In that sense there is a feeling of "us and them. But I do realise that though they do seem to be different, at an undelying level, they are the same as me and therefore there is just "we (inclusive). For example in the recent terror attacks, we say that those who attacked were them and not us the people who don't do such horrible things. But when we dig deeper I find that we may all be responsible for this, because there is a psyche that connects all of us. There is a collective memory which connects all of us. "No man is an Island Every man's a piece of the continent, the main ....... Every man's death diminishes me Cause I am involved in mankind Do not send to know For whom the Bell tolls It tolls for thee" - John Dunne This somehow summarises what I feel about feeling non-dual. Peace be with you Raghu Jan Sultan wrote: Most non-dualists want to throw out duality completely. This they soon find is impossible. Say you have a piece of gold and a piece of copper.
