Lao Tzu:"When everyone recognizes beauty as beautifulthere is already ugliness; When everyone recognizes goodness as good, there is already evil."To be" and "not to be" arise mutually;Difficult and easy are mutually realized;Long and short are mutually contrasted;High and long are mutually posited; Before and after are in mutual sequence."Gospel of Thomas:They said to Him:Shall we then, being children, enter the Kingdom?Jesus said:When you make the two one, andwhen you make the inner as the outerand the outer as the innerand the above as the below, and when you make the male ad the femaleinto a single onethen you shall enter the Kingdom."Lankavatara Sutra:"False imagination teaches that such thingsas light and shade, long and short, blackand white, are different and are to be discriminated;but they are not independent of each other; theyare only different aspects of the same thing; theyare terms of relation, not of reality.Conditions of existence are not of a mutually exclusivecharacter; in essence things are not two but one."Chuang Tzu:"Thus, those who say that they would have rightwithout its correlate, wrong; good government without its correlate, misrule;do not apprehend the great principles of theuniverse, nor the nature of all creation. One might as well talk of the existence of Heaven without that of the Earth, or of thenegative principle without the positive - whichis clearly impossible.Yet people keep on discussing it without stop;such people must be either fools or knaves."Osho:"Distinctions are there because of your trained eyes.Distinction is a learned thing.Distinction is not there in existence.Distinction is projected by you.Distinction is given by you to the world -it is not there. It is your eyes' trick, your eyes playinga trick on you.........Once the Self-mind is seen, discrimination stops."Ramesh Balsekar:"Nature itself does not seem to know - or care -about the man-made opposites or about this worldof opposites. Nature seems perfectly satisfied andhappy to produce a world of infinite, rapturous varietythat knows nothing about anything pretty or ugly, ethical or unethical. As Thoreau has said, naturenever apologizes, never sees the need of it..."

....when there is already ugliness, beautiful has simply changed her

name.

....when there is nobody to recognize good or evil, then they both

become obsolete.

.......being & non-being arise as objects of perception, and all pairs

in complementary opposition follow. before the arising --

just this!

....when one & two, inner & outer, above & below, male & female,

Kingdom of Heaven and Hell on earth are all seen to be nothing but

the figments of imagination -- innocent misunderstandings -- then

there will be no place to enter into where you are not already

standing, even now.

......false imagination teaches nothing, since from the very no-

beginning no such thing has ever existed, and so what teaches what?

but if you want to really press the point then, oh, OK. :-))

......in essence, there are no things to be either two or one.

in manifestation, you got the whole damn circus!

......Nature seems perfectly happy & satisfied, or never apologizes,

because we project such attitudes onto that which is mysterious to

us. if we are not separate from nature, however, then it can be said

that nature actually contains and expresses every possible attitude,

from satisfaction to agony.

or, depends on the day you're having.
