Guest guest
" You can do anything with training " . That is a quote from the sage Nisargadatta. The quest for Self-Realization is like that too and also the ability to transmit that Realization. Those are two facets in this presentation. One trains to have a strong enough mind to get off the mental modifications so that Self-Inquiry can begin. Here are a few methods to develop a powerful mind. Study anything with intensity. Do any of the various concentration exercises, i.e. mantra, mandala and the breath exercise pranayama. A excellent one I have found is to sit opposite a partner and look them in the eyes, bringing the mind back to the space between the thoughts as soon as you are aware of them. Sight reading on the piano is another example of a way to develop mega concentration, because if your mind wanders, it is most difficult to continue without pause. Memory work is a fine way of developing a strong mind. OK, let us say you now have a powerful enough mind that can hold the " I Am " presence or the space between the thoughts, for a period of time, without having those pesky discursive entities talk to you in your mind. You keeping training until the Attention eats up the Attention. At first it is intermittent and then you are able to do it at will. Now you have mastered the ability to have a silent mind, but the training continues so that ability is disturbed less and less. You know that you are making progress when you are able to stay up and practice without hardly any sleep or when you are dead tired. Now that you are able to go into samadhi, the training continues almost by it self. The quest has no ending and after Realization it will continue by itself. Those who claim no more person and have not gained that ability are IMO snow jobbing themselves. The test will come for them when the body starts deteriorating substantially. What you will attain from the aforesaid practice. The ability to transfer a feeling of peace to other beings that come in contact with you. The ability to find energy knots in other beings that are preventing them from that PEACE and removing them. To be able to go anywhere is the creation at will. Ability to give someone sensual pleasures anywhere in the universe from a distance. Ability to take incredible amounts of pain because you can detach from the body at will. Now folks might say that when peace and a silent mind is attained there is no more need for training, even when it goes on almost by it self without effort. My answer is yes training continues, as there can be more intensity to that peace and more silence that is undisturbed. Some sages can give transmissions and other don't seem to be able to. Love, MT, but full of it. Shit that is. HA HA

And there will always be the marketplace of sages, teachers, gurus, healers. All part of human life, the commotion, the buying and selling, the experiencing. As for what is untouched by any of this -- well, that's where you find " what is " ... Not something attained, not something given by someone to someone else, not something received because of training ... Maybe God had to go in training in order to manifest the universe. Maybe Being had to get the right techniques down in order to bring forth life and awareness. Then again, maybe not. -- Dan
