At a time when it was important to do the steps just so, they were a popular little business. There were footprints painted on the floor to follow and a rhythm to learn. But everyone felt pretty foolish doing the steps when the music was turned off. Once the steps are learned and the music is turned on, the body just rumbas like it's the only thing in the world it's ever going to do. The great dancer dances with ecstasy as a ring of clapping admirers watch. But when the music is turned off, again, they all laugh if the dancer doesn't stop and the dancer realizes it, blushes, and thinks what their body is doing is now a monkey dance. Emotion is the music of the ego but the ego itself is an intellectual activity.
