Guest guest
Dear Group, A member of this group called my attention to this posting knowing that I regularly go to satsang at SAT. We wanted me to make some kind of 'rebuttal.' I will comment, but not make some kind of detailed rebuttal. I have been going to SAT and listening to the teaching of Nome and Russ since about 1990. There were a few years in the mid 1990's were I did not regularly attend satsang due to issues of my own. Through what I have learned at SAT and my own spiritual practice that has developed since I started going there I feel a kind of inner peace that stays with me always. This inner peace makes me want to practice more. The posting from Sarlo's site does not reflect my experience. It is very far from my experience. One small example of this: The writer of the posting talked about 'mind control.' I find this laughable; what is taught is that each seeker must find the truth for themselves by looking within. My experiences is that the teaching at SAT is done at the deepest level. The people that attend satsang at SAT tend to be seekers with real Self-inquiry practices. There are a number of people at SAT who have been with these teachers for more than 20 years. The focus of SAT, and the teaching of SAT is entirely for the spiritual benefit of those who attend. The teachers are interested in teaching, not 'name and fame.' As an example, SAT recently redid their website (www.satramana.org). Look at it and notice that you do NOT see Nome's picture on the home page, nor do you see a section talking about the wonderful attributes of the teachers. It is focused on Ramana and the teaching. I invite you to compare this with the websites of other's that offer satsang. Enough of this. If you want to know what SAT is like, I invite you to attend satsang or a retreat there. Find out for your self. We are not two, Richard
Guest guest
Hi Richard, I'm a little confused by your message. I don't think Sarlo ever posted in this mail group. Karta recently quoted something here by Sarlo, but I don't think it mentioned SAT. Are you talking about this link that Alton posted? www.globalserve.net/~sarlo/Yjeffruss.htm It seems like pretty mild criticism to me. Guest guest
Dear Rob and Richard: I deleted the original message that I posted. The reason for doing so is that I did not check with Richard to see if any of it was true. Reading what was presented led me to question the authenticity of what was offered. It appears that some of the negative stuff was from a few disgruntled ex members who were not even willing to own up to what they experienced. It seemed like an unfair hearsay presentation and Richard has offered some of his experiences with Nome and Russell that says that is true. Some of the dialogues of Nome and Russell have been shared with me and they are so interesting that I keep reading it over and over again. Remembering that Paul Brunton had some of those difficulties at the Ramana ashram and left. Am I right about that Rob? Why did Brunton leave Ramana? Guest guest
Dear Rob, Yes, I was refering to that posting. Though maybe this is just assertion of ego (and therefore just another ego-driven 'mistake'), I did not want that posting to be " the last word " posted about Nome. As I think you know, his teaching has been good for me, and I appreciate the grace that brought me to him. I have, while listening to this teaching and trying to apply them to my life, turned from a person active in this high-speed Silicon Valley technical and business life (with some spiritual interest), to one who places a high priority on practice and on looking within (and still works within Silicon Valley high tech). And I have never been happier. Not two, Richard Realization , " Rob Sacks " <editor@r...> wrote: > Hi Richard, > > I'm a little confused by your message. Guest guest
Dear Richard, > Yes, I was refering to that posting. Yeah, I took a second look and understand why you were concerned. When I looked at it the first time, I probably didn't read all the way to the bottom. It starts off by accusing Nome and Russell of being -- gasp! -- brothers. Now there's a felony for you -- those two guys had the same biological parents. Lock them up and throw away the key! But I just read it all the way through, and it does get a little more severe towards the end, so I see why you wanted to reply. > Though maybe this is just assertion of ego > (and therefore just another ego-driven 'mistake')... Why worry about this? It seems to me that Bhagavan would say, " You are not your ego. Why are you concerned about what your ego thinks it is doing? " It seems to me that our job, as devotees of Bhagavan, is to find the source of the ego, not to try to reform it or control its behavior. Who's counting, Rob - " Richard Clarke " <rclarke <Realization > Saturday, April 26, 2003 11:00 AM Re: Sarlo's posting about Nome and Russ > Dear Rob, > > Yes, I was refering to that posting. > > Though maybe this is just assertion of ego (and therefore just > another ego-driven 'mistake'), I did not want that posting to be " the > last word " posted about Nome.
