That's funny Rob: You know not everyone wants to have a silent mind. I sure do as I am sick of having " I " thought fractions popping up, being unruly and interfering with my conferring with the Reality. My wife did not like meditation because she wants to think. Funny world huh? If you had kids that kept interrupting and grabbing attention without being sanctioned I think you would get irate or at least take some actions to prevent that behavior from arising. We are taking corrective actions by developing enough power in the mind to remove the ATTENTION life support for those discursive disruptions. This so called trip now for me is to increase the mind megahertz so that it stays balanced in silence at will. I dont give a crap about Realization, Enlightenment or Awakening. I only want the SILENCE. How about you or any other members here reading this? And if you claim that you have that SILENCE, be prepared for some lovingly aggressive queries. Funny world huh? I thought everybody is like your wife. Just about everybody. We all love to think. It's our entertainment. Daydreams, rehearsals, reruns of old shows. That's why yoga had to be invented. If people liked silence, yoga wouldn't be necessary. Making the mind quiet is like turning off the TV. Meditating is like turning off the TV and then sitting in front of it with the remote in your hand and your finger on the " on " button. The merest quiver of your finger will start the entertainment up again, but voluntarily you are sitting in the dark with no entertainment at all because some guru told you that if you do it long enough you'll prefer the new state of affairs. > If you had kids that kept interrupting and grabbing attention > without being sanctioned I think you would get irate or at least > take some actions to prevent that behavior from arising. I am now using every technique that may work in gaining a more powerful mind. A ballet dancer with weak legs never becomes world class. A meditator with a weak mind unable to concentrate, like this guy and most of the other people I know will never be able to have peace. I love to experiment and will do almost anything healthful to accomplish said goal. When Nisargadatta said " You can do anything with training " It hit one of my core beliefs. Without concentration powers one will be a slave on the Path for many lifetimes. Are you a slave? Also please delete post 3509 Standards of Guruship as I dont have that option on MT. I am not the brown nose type but I have to say I really like your responses. Time is running out as I will soon be 68. I figure it can happen for me this lifetime if I can keep my energy for another 10 years. Thanks in advance. Love me love everybody.
