Ways to stop taking to yourself

1. Desire it.

2. Work for it.

3. Become senior to it by intentionally talking to yourself all the time while awake.

4. Try behavior modification like inflicting pain each time a thought is noticed.

5. Develop through training the ability to recognize those unsolicited discursive thoughts as they arise.

6. Dont pay any attention to them and they will go away like someone one ringing your doorbell

trying to sell you something.

7. Put a spin on it and say that it is God/dess talking to us.

8. Find out the causes of those thoughts so that some interventions can be developed.

9. Do like you do with your kids. Give them time out, but make it permanent.

10. Develop mega concentration powers so that they cant penetrate your mind.

11. Ask the question " Who am I" each time you notice them. When the ego is seen as

unreal those thoughts will cease and desist.

12. Go to a psychiatrist for psychoanalysis.

13. Ask God/dess for help.

14. Practice Tantric sex so that the pleasure will be so great that those thoughts will

be quelled by the ecstasy of the practice.

15. Work with a neuroscientist to develop a computer tech that will print out your thoughts as they

arise, bringing about the requisite mindfulness to end those thoughts.

16. Do pranayama and when you can stop you breath those thoughts will also stop, at least temporarily.

17. Totally surrender to your guru asking him/her to accomplish that for you.

18. Become a Buddhist which leads to the nirvanic state of thoughtlessness.

19. Surrender to Christ and abide in his words. That will do it too, as love has no constraints.

20. Place your attention on the "I Am" Sense of conscious presence, which is the essential element

that gives those thoughts their sustenance, then those thoughts that need attention power will

starve from lack of it.

21. Do mantra or repetition and when it becomes so powerful, internal dialogues will be pushed out.

22. Go on a 40 day fast. When the brain is deprived of the necessary elements to think, those thoughts

will also.

23. Sacrifice your life to save another. It you dont believe in life after death there wont be any of

those thoughts.

24. As you imagine it so it happens. Just imagine it.

25. Try to have a dialogue with them to see if they will cooperate.

26. Ask them questions for instance.

1. Tell me something about your internal chatter that you think I would be

unwilling to experience?

2. Tell me something about your internal chatter that you think I would be

 

willing to experience? After some time those thoughts would become

so bored they would leave for another body.

27. Sing your favorite song over and over again and drive them crazy.

28. If it is their favorite, try one that they hate

29. See your life as a drama that you are acting in and create a part with no unsanctioned

internal thinking.

30 Look for a natural herb that has the power to quell thoughts.

31. Work on that problem with another seeker. The power of two increases your chance of success.

32. Stay so busy with projects that there is no time for internal chatter.

33. Type in each thought as it arises on the computer. Do it long enough and great mindfulness will be

the outcome that stops that thinking.

34. Use your problem solving gifts to come up with a way that works best for you.
