Guest guest
What is meant by nonduality, Mahatmi? It means that light and shade, long and short, black and white, can only be experienced in relation to each other; light is not independent of shade, nor black of white. There are no opposites, only relationships. In the same way, nirvana and the ordinary world of suffering are not two things but related to each other. There is no nirvana except where the world of suffering is; there is no world of suffering apart from nirvana. For existence is not mutually exclusive.-Lankavatara Sutra From "Buddha Speaks," edited by Anne Bancroft, 2000. Reprinted by arrangement with Shambhala Publications, Boston, www.shambhala.com. I'm always telling people it's not better if you're on the highest rung on the ladder or the lowest one(some mineral like shale! Yummy Shale...Mmmmm), but the point is to jump off and be free of it. No matter what stage we are at, we are all just one step away from it. :> LOL Jeremy.

Shale doesn't really have one of those though. Nice physical, but the rest is like a musical note...it's mental stuff anyway. Every moment we are a step away from absolute reality. Know what I'm saying? It's a tough world out there. Strange, new agers were talking about how things were supposed to get more enlightened, then they wonder why it hasn't come. Very confusing. I see more and more people waking up everyday...not that they'd know. Where is there a place in society for them to learn? It isn't there. Go to your local " occult " place, and you'll find only confusion. Go to your local " yoga " place, more confusion. Go to your local " religious " centers, nothing. Alton, I guess I speak more on an Ego level, because that's where I prefer to stay. I've touched the lives of many people by being straightforward and honest with'em. Sometimes it helps, sometimes they simply deny everything...they have the right to choose. So, what I was saying is from the ego level. In every moment, you have the choice. You can suffer, ride the merry-go-round, chutes and ladders(or whatever other street name I'm going to give it), or you can step side ways ilke. Suffering is a choice...but from the ego, where's the real choice? Everything is pretty much on autopilot...you're wonderfully dancing unawares, you're a puppet with strings, being pulled this way and that. I mean, there are other ways. You could solve the suffering problem by changing it, but I'd rather just cease to be affected...no hooks in me thank you...that's all it is. Get where I'm coming from? BTW, what's metta mean? :> Later. Jeremy.
