Guest guest
Adyashanti: Many have glimpsed the realization of Oneness; few consistently express that realization through their humanness. ------------ El: The realization of oneness is child's play. ----------- It is one thing to touch a flame and know it is hot, but quite another to jump into that flame and be consumed by it. Adyashanti ____ What does Ramana say? Did he gaze upon anyone and see them as outside the flame or as failing to consistently express humanness? Ramana said: " ...really there are no others to help, for a Realized Being sees only the Self just as a goldsmith, estimating gold in various jewels, sees only the gold. Separate forms and beings exist only as long as you identify yourself with the body. " He also said: " (The Guru) never sees any difference between himself and others and is quite free from the idea that he is the Enlightened or the Liberated One, while those around him are in bondage or the darkness of ignorance. " Adyashanti could have said that we all always express realization through our humanness and that it is not possible to be outside the flame. Perhaps that would be the scripturally more intimate thing to say. As the Rhibu Gita, the scripture frequently quoted and mentioned by Ramana, says: " The world and objects are all of the nature of Brahman. All that is perishable is of the nature of Brahman. The world, the individual, and the Supreme are all of the nature of Brahman. " I don't agree with Adyashanti, but he's one hell of a speaker and I was glad to partake in the standing ovation he received at the Inner Directions gathering a few weeks ago. No one else deserved one. He had the freshest voice. Though they did a good job of hiding it, you could hear the others imitating themselves or sticking to nondual party lines. No spontaneity. It was like stale bread up there. By the way, go to the Inner Directions website if anyone wants to order the tapes of Adyashanti's talk/satsang.
