Guest guest
Hi Jerry.... you said, in part: > Adyashanti could have said that we all always express realization > through our humanness and that it is not possible to be outside the > flame. Perhaps that would be the scripturally more intimate thing to > say. It would depend on which 'scripture', wouldn't it? Adyashanti may have saying that those who transcend the 3 gunas, who are no longer susceptible to reactions of identity from passion, ignorance, and such; are rather rare.... as described in another spiritual scripture, the Bhagavad Gita: " What are the qualities of the person who has transcended these three gunas? how does he behave and how does he does he actually achieve it? When a man overcomes the three gunas, he neither likes illumination, activity and delusion when present nor dislikes when they are absent (14.22). He remains unshaken, unconcerned, knowing that the gunas are carrying out their actions (14.23). Alike in pleasure and pain, remaining the same towards a piece of gold, or a lump of clay, towards the desirable and the undesirable, equal in defamation and self-adulation (14.24), alike in honor and dishonor, same to friends and foes, without any egoistic effort in performing actions, he raises above the gunas (14.25). " I don't know much about what Ramana said, or didn't say, but I would be surprised if he would have objected to what is quoted above. It might not have been 'spiritually correct' for Adyashanti to say what he did, but, let's face it - how many people in your neighborhood .....in your country, even.....have " overcome the three gunas " ? Nonduality might be your vision for the masses, Jerry, I can truly appreciate that. But let's not dilute what it is to consistently 'embody' self-less Expression, as only a very few have.
