Guest guest
I hope this is the same U. G. Krishnamurti. Recently I met two people in a row who were familiar with U.G. They asked me if I heard of this extraordinary thinker. By the way I met the two separately and they do not know about each other. When I replied that yes, he is an advaita (non)teacher, they both got rather upset for my categorizing U.G. as a teacher and even worse placing him in *advaita* teachers group. Although I gave them the so called guru (ratings) lists, and they confirmed that yes, this was the same U.G., they were still not convinced. " This is a mistake. If they understood U.G. they (the pundits) would have never done such a thing. " As it turned out, the problem was they were familiar with Buddhism but they'd never heard of advaita before. It was not my intention to place U.G. (non)teachings at the " advaita " shelf of the mind's bookstore, but it was fun to play this game with them. UG's description of his enlightening calamity has always sound pathological to me. What he took for the " Big E " could very well have been a minor stroke which disabled the seat of his emotional responses. It has been documented that people, so damaged, describe their condition as being awful, terrible, that they feel dead and cut off from everything.
