Guest guest
>Cathy: >It did not seem like Maharaj was acting when he was angry. Since he >once got angry at me, I can tell you it felt completely real... ~ This reminds me of my own experiences and reports from others with Papaji. Papaji was a big man and very expressive, primarily with laughter, but tears or anger also came through in technicolor and surroundsound. Once he yelled at me, " When have you ever done what I asked? " and I felt shaken by thunder. I was never the same again, thankfully. In another story, some students told me Papaji given them a task but they had given into tamas... inertia... and only partly done it. He shouted at them in anger and they retreated to the next room where they suffered and berated themselves and each other for their carelessness. Later, still in pain, they asked someone who had remained in the room with Papaji what he said about them after they left. She said, " Oh, he was laughing about it. He said he could hear you over there wallowing in your emotions, when all you had to do was to drop the past. " We may think that anger or other so called 'negative' emotions should never occur once the *I* is gone. As I see it, anything and everything might flow through an empty vessel, but nothing is held onto or identified with. One thing is for sure.... Infinite Self is not bound by the preconceptions of identity self. It is where expressions come from and what purpose they serve... whether they are from and for freedom, or from and for perpetuation of false identity... Osho's definition of compassion has stayed with me for a long time: " Compassion does whatever it takes to increase awareness. " Xan
