Excerpt from

Consciousness and the Absolute

1-13-81.

What am I telling you?

You are not the body.

You are the conscious

presence.

Accept it,

and you can forget it.

In the future,

I will not be able to go into

the problems of each one of you.

I will simply tell you,

" This is false, or this is the truth. "

You can accept what I say,

or you can leave.

Questioner:

I don't have the capacity,

to accept what Maharaj has

given me.

Maharaj:

If you don't think you have

the capacity, then you can

go elsewhere.

I am not concerned,

with any state which

is temporary.

This consciousness state,

is not of my choosing.

The sooner it goes,

the better.

Once it is known,

what is temporary,

and what one's original state is,

no further knowledge is needed.

As soon as consciousness

stirred, space and time came.

It has a time limit.

In this space-time,

everyone suffers.

So why should I accept this

suffering, as something unique?

I was always in that blissful,

complete, total state.

Suddenly I am in this

imperfect state.

Those who have apperceived

my knowledge, will not fall prey

to the logic, or spirituality

expounded by others.

Concerning your 'Dear Abby', ..

my guess was right:

you practice an attitude out of what sombodyElse has said.

Nisar. has said that.

You merely quote.

And then do some conceptual comparing and conclusion.

And try to live according to that, as attitude.

I've done that for years !.. but stopped long ago.

It's a sad escape-mode, and arrogant ambiton.

That's why you cannot Hear.

That's the way your 'song' sounds to me.

Hope, you'll come to see the point of my sharing..

though a mere 'temporal nonsense'.

JB.

Besides the intensity of this talk I would like to point out that it

was written about eight months before Maharaj dropped the body. He is

physically very ill and is telling all who come to him what he knows he

has patience for and what really is the nitty gritty. I think context

is very important because it brings the truth to life for us. Maharaj

was not abstract, he was fully engaged in life. Even though his

teachings can get to be like the most precise and scientific, they are

also grounded in life. And what was going on for Maharaj at this time

was that he had throat cancer. He was not going to waste anytime with

intellectual speculation and questions which were not essential. His

body was wracked with pain and he was only fixed on the essential.

Every word was a blessing by January 1981, it took alot of effort to

produce each one.

I wasn't there, but I know that this is true!

### Yes Cathy, I know this fact. I've read several books by him.

So it is understandable, that nhe had to cut down on his output

somewhere,.. like talking about the 1001 possible specific daily

problems.

But _we_ (hopefully) do not have any cancer problem..

I, at least, have these 'other' 'temporary' existential problems,

which I do not see why it should be regarded as a no-no to enquire

into. Then, I might come to a more and more basic/essential problem.

That's the way I see it, without insisting that it is the absolute

truth.

But to say, that we all have a 'terminal disease', is also so.

And since I am not out of temporality,.. I am doing what I am doing.

If I was to be concerned only with quotes about In-temporality/The

Eternal, I would still be in temporality.

This is what I meant.

Have a good day,

JB
