Guest guest
" In otherwords, how can we be this stillness permanently? It is only when you see the mechanism, how you function, that you become aware that you take yourself for somebody. The person comes into play; the mind splits into positive and negative, pleasure and pain and so on, and the reflex comes up to be somebody, to take yourself for what you are not. Then there is object to object relationship, relationship from personality to personality. Then, there is a problem, because this object lives for security, recognition and the need to be loved. There is only the asking, the demanding. At first you will see the conflict, the identification, after the situation. Then you may see it during the identification, and at the end, you will catch it before the reflex comes up. " -- Jean Klein
Guest guest
Does anyone else see a problem with the last sentence? " you will catch it before it comes up " and " reflex " --hmmmmm--who is the " you " ? Also, is there ALWAYS the " reflex " as long as body-minds exist?? (of course, he probably is still referring to " persons " and not awakened beings, hopefully) a.m. p.s. Has anyone seen Eckhart Tolle? or know anything about him? --- Omkara <coresite wrote: > > " In otherwords, how can we be this stillness > permanently? > > It is only when you see the mechanism, how you > function, that you > become aware that you take yourself for somebody. Guest guest
this person didn't disappear, just the self concept is not adhered to... now I may not be fully baked here, so some of the more enlightened of the bunch might have something else to say... I don't know. haven't you ever had thoughts rising, just coming into consciousness? (from wherever... subconsciousness?) that you didn't want to think? at the inkling, you recognize and drop it before taking it and chewing it. I don't know about you, but I am here. Thoughts arise. There is choice. I read Eckhart Tolle's book. If you aren't already convinced that the present moment is all there is, then you might benefit by reading it. If you already understand this, then it might be a waste of money.
