" Sailor " Bob Adamson spent time during 1976 with the revered guru Sri

Nisargadatta Maharaj, in Bombay India. Sailor Bob now teaches in

Melbourne Australia. Here is something from his site:

 

Understanding IS-ness

 

I AM not speaking to any 'body'.

 

I AM not speaking to any 'mind'.

 

I AM speaking to THAT I AM that I AM, to that PRESENCE AWARENESS that

expresses through the mind as the thought I AM - just THIS and

NOTHING else.

 

That is the direct and immediate introduction to the natural state,

the actuality 'That Thou Art', expressed through 'Sailor' Bob Adamson

to seekers who have found their way to him over the past twenty years.

 

Bob's search ended one day in 1976 when we was in the presence of Sri

Nisargadatta Maharaj, a much revered Jnani who functioned always from

the natural state.

 

Nisargadatta told Bob that the greatest help that can be given to

anyone is to take them beyond the need for further help. Bob says:

 

" …this Nisargadatta did by pointing to the reality, the actuality,

THAT I AM. Now, I abide as THAT. "

 

So, as the opportunity arises, Bob passes on that message to those

who are attracted by his wisdom

His teaching, like Nisargadatta's, is to expose ground of being. Bob's

teaching is always showing that the nature of the mind is to divide,

that 'understanding is all " (to quote Nisargadatta), and that

understanding arises out of direct experience: the right here, right

now, full stop presence-awareness.

 

Interesting, while reading the book I kept expecting and even looking

for the personality of Bob to come through. I can't say I ever found

it.

I was never touched by a personality. I think that's a rare quality,

that clean effort. A person can read this book and not feel the

impress

of a 'guy', so to speak, even though this is a book of talks

consisting

of questions and answers. This tells me there's no 'Bob' there.
