Guest guest
>>>This has to clearly understood though - " It is not mine, not my affair. " All thoughts and knowledge don't belong to anyone. They were inherited, learnt, copied, borrowed or stolen from tradition's storehouse. We are untruthful when we say this or that belongs to me, this is my view, I am this or that, this is how such and such is, and so on. Because it is an imitation, is the reason why the 'you' is said to be false and fictional... it doesn't really exist... At some point one gets fedup impersonating, playing this false role, being a hypocrite. The false-self breaks down and collapses on its own accord. ~dave Dear Dave, Well-said. Although I wouldn't say that one gets fedup impersonating. After all, the one getting fedup is impersonating someone getting fedup. I am in agreement with you that the imitation is mistaken as " something real " -- not only that, but what it's imitating is also an imitation, ad infinitum. Reality doesn't replicate itself, never has, never will. In order to be able to replicate itself, it would have to be able to stand apart from itself, know itself as a form, and duplicate the form somewhere. As it can't stand aside from itself somewhere where it is not, it has never managed this trick. We say that genes replicate, but this replication is actually a memory activation process, not the duplication of an independently existing thing (which it is usually misunderstood to be). Memory images, upon which basic functions such as eating and digesting, as well as speech and thought depend, continues to function as if replication and matching of replica to template, renders " what is so " ... In human beings, through this function a personality-image, and a feeling of existing as a being, is formed. Yet, we are lucky, because questioning the difficulties brought about by a personality, and a sense of personal existence, allow the inquiry into the " roots " of memory/thought's functioning. Thus, Reality alone is revealed as Reality alone as inquiry allowed the " overthrow " of the false reality-principle imbedded in memory, and duplication of image. Yes, we've been duped by a duplicitous reality offering itself as if the real thing. An intriguing question is " what is memory-image doing " , if no real event has been replicated (stored, retrieved)? The reason the question is intriguing is that the answer implies that everything taken as really being here (which is taken that way because it can be referenced to memory as image, thought, or feeling) is not. Only Reality is here, so everything else is not. Even basic sensations such as cold, hot, pain, pleasure, have their apparent existence as a powerful memory-reference built up over millenia of " survival " . And " survival " has no reality apart from the tendency to observe as if survival were a criterion of existence, which is tied to memory (and the maintenance/survival of images). The observer is memory, that is all, and replicates a self in the process of observing and noticing anything. When the observer is not, when no replication or matching is a criterion, there is only Reality. All that is -- " this " -- never replicating, survival never an issue, having nothing to do with gaining possessions or prestige, nor anything to do with the " spiritual quest " whatsoever. Sharp observation....you're quite correct, such expressions are loaded. 'One' really doesn't have any choice in the matter, either to indulge or be disgusted. Probably a more accurate statement might be - it suddenly strikes, (out of nowhere) all this is not what I am truly -. Whatever remains continues to function freely.
