Guest guest
>>>Am I missing something simple here? At first I read the quote above to say: As A = B So B = A Where B here is the word " One " . It occured to me that the first " one " I take to mean singleness or whole, and the second " one " I take to mean self or individual. I guess it suggests that ultimately, the self (individual) = the Self (whole). Expressed this way, it seems like pretty basic Advaita. I guess I'm still having trouble with what, in my concept at least, are two different meanings of the word " one " . -- John " One " doesn't have a meaning. If it did, it wouldn't be " One " , but would just be one particular meaning and not other meanings. So " One " is every possible meaning, and no meaning at all. " One " is every possible happening, and nothing happening at all. You, I, and that over there are " One " . And, nothing is " One " . " One " is One is One, and " One " is nothing at all. So, this computer I'm typing on is a computer, is One, is nothing -- and is a computer. Trying to figure this out makes two, the one figuring it out, and the One being figured out. Only when One is One is One is there nothing to figure out, and no one else there to figure something out. This " One " isn't new knowledge that is gained. It is before time, not acquired, only the " one " you are, and the nothing that is all that is. Namaste, Dan
