Guest guest
What mind? In deep sleep, where is that mind of yours, conscious, unconscious, subconscious, cosmic conscious.........or any other conscious? I am nothing, I have nothing, I can do nothing, yet everything comes out of me. How can something come out of nothing? ..

The subconscious mind never sleeps. It is very much active during deep sleep monitoring the body, filing and sorting new things learned during the day. It is the subconscious mind which wakes up the conscious mind in case of emergency or in the morning. Even learning can take place during deep sleep. Have you not heard of 'hypnopedia'? [if you do not believe me you can look it up in your dictionary] It is like switching off the monitor while your computer is defraging the hard disk [in order to save electricity]. The monitor is fast asleep but the computer [subconscious mind] is working ferociously beneath. Also a person can be hypnotized to wake up at a particular time or on hearing a particular sound even when the person is in deep sleep. ______________________ With Love, Cyber Dervish ````````````````````````````````````````
Guest guest
you are right Jan when looked from third person perspective ........all this information regarding subconscious, unconscious we gain through either reading or hearing i.e. through our senses. When looked from first person perspective I can't even say that I was born ......I've always been told that I was born ..I've no first hand knowledge of being born.... what parents say about my birth is about birth of the body ..........they saw a body being born ......and then they named it Jan/Vineet or whatever ...at first child doen't know that it has a body but slowly somehow this idea that I'm only body sets in.....And then this ordeal called life starts........initially child rebels a lot ...but ignorant as all people are around the child ..they keep forcing ,hinting the child in every way that you are the body....it accepts the idea and this entity called ego/mind rises. But we are never totally lost .....every night when I sleep everything other than this 'sense of presence' or 'I amness' vanishes ........In deep sleep we are truly ourselves .........that is why nobody really hates sleeping. But upon waking this idea that I'm body gets superimposed on 'I amness' and all this psychology, science & techonology ,theories of mind,body,universe...big bang ...advencements of modern science appear and exist only in waking state and reality can't be transient..... appearing in waking state & disappearing in deep sleep. Guest guest
Caiti, Yes we can't retain the presence.......yet you can't deny that you were absolutely not there in deep sleep.......in deep sleep most of me is absent ......but this is me of ego......and this is what we usually take ourselves to be and what society, family & friends approve of..........but this dissolves .......whatever faint sense of me remains is the correct me, real me.
