Guest guest
Hi, is it safe to say that one of the key hurdles is over intellectualization? " More-you-talk-the-further-away-you-get " syndrome seems to plague a lot of us beginners on the PATH. Silence is an ally that we fail to depend upon to the utmost. Any thoughts on the above are welcome. Cheers Arvind

Guest guest
Dear Vineet and Arvind, The intellect only misleads if it is misinterpreted as a device to get somewhere. When it's apparent that the use (or overuse) of intellect is itself an intellectual idea, and the place it is being used to get to is likewise its idea, the endeavor to use intellect to get something and somewhere collapses. The one using and that being used are the same, as is the place one is attempting to reach. This nonseparation is not an intellectual product, nor is it anti-intellectual in nature. For example, when a rock speaks clearly as fluid, living intelligence -- how can that be considered as intellectual or anti-intellectual? Guest guest
Dear Dan, sorry, what you have done is a classic example of over intellectualization. It is not about getting here or there, it is about trying to go beyondwords - words are relativistic concepts, each word by itself makes no sense. Like for example try to describe " me " without talking about " you " , you can't. My point is people get trapped in this " over intellectualization " and fail to see what is beyond words/intellect. It is very hard to explain this to people who have not experienced the SILENCE. Again SILENCE is a powerful ally let us not forget to use it, it will take us beyond relativity to the absolute. Please don't try to say there is nowhere to go and everything is here, which will lead us to question the very idea of effort. Cheers :-) Arvind Nisargadatta, d b <dan330033> wrote: > Dear Vineet and Arvind, > > The intellect only misleads if it is > misinterpreted as a device to get > somewhere. > > When it's apparent that the use (or > overuse) of intellect > is itself an intellectual idea, and the place it is > being used to get to is likewise its idea, > the endeavor to use intellect to > get something and somewhere collapses. > > The one using and that being used are the > same, as is the place one is attempting > to reach. > > This nonseparation is not an intellectual > product, nor is it anti-intellectual > in nature. > > For example, when a rock speaks clearly > as fluid, living intelligence -- how can that > be considered as intellectual or anti-intellectual? > > Namaste, > Dan > > > --- Vineet Kumar <vineet_kumar0@l...> wrote: > > yes arvind ...you are right....but then it is > > difficult to stop over intellectualization by > > itself. Guest guest
Dear Arvind, > sorry, what you have done is a classic example of > over > intellectualization. By categorizing what I'm supposedly doing, " you " (activity of intellect) can't help but give a (self-validating) interpretation. This is then covered up by saying " sorry " ... Perhaps such activity could then be considered mis-intellectualing? Saying " sorry " didn't prevent intellect from " categorizing another " , and in a way that puts " me " one-up on " you " : " I know that what you're doing is over-intellectualizing " ;-) The misuse of intellect (upon which society thrives) frequently is observed as categorizations of others, and claimed one-up expertise about what they're doing, rather than looking at the only first-hand reality: what I'm doing, here and now ... > It is not about getting here or > there, it is > about trying to go beyondwords - words are > relativistic concepts, > each word by itself makes no sense. Yes. So why try to get beyondwords, when it's all that is? Even words are beyond words ... > Like for > example try to > describe " me " without talking about " you " , you > can't.
