WHY AM I TOTALLY FREE? (Maharaj Quote)

As the Absolute,

you were free from all concepts,

including the primary concept " I Am " .

You did not have this concept " I Am "

in the course of the nine months

in the womb.

Understand this state of affairs;

the concept " I Am "

comes spontaneously

and goes spontaneously.

Amazingly, when it appears,

it is accepted as real.

All subsequent misconceptions

arise from that feeling of reality

in the " I Amness " .

Why am I totally free?

Because I have understood

the unreality of that " I Am " .

From 3-4-81 Consciousness and the Absolute

Hi,

I am a bit confused ...

...here, the 'I am', seems to be linked to the ego,..the source of all

misconceptions.

... while other places, if I remember correctly, he seems to say that

being as/with the 'I am', Is (entrance to) 'That' ..'true-self' ..

Can anyone clarify ?

regards,

jb

Perhaps its up to us where/what we link the " I am " to,

either Ego (which need not nor cannot be destroyed) or

Sentience. Whichever we choose to identify with will

determine much.

I believe the " I AM " as Maharaj uses the term is referring to the

manifest consciousness, not the ego. It is simply the sense of

presence, prior to any concept of individuality. From the

standpoint of the Absolute, the manifest consciousness is also

unreal, yet as Maharaj says so often, that is our only capital. It

is only by stabilzing in that consciousness, that the consciousness

is transcended.

....thanks for your sharing...

....a response from a fellow(human) enquirer,

not from a Reference Manual, as I've just got (from another), here.

Ted

----------------------

When ripeness is,

consciousness spontaneously

turns back on itself.

This can not be brought about

by any practice.

I expect you know that.
