Guest guest
Hi Mario, On a related note, I read this post by " easy " on the Advaita.org message board: I've got a story that Jack Kornfield told me in '93 while lounging on a hill offduty at his retreat place which I visited as a friend. I may have gotten some of the details wrong, but the jist is correct. I'd have to veryify with Jack and I have not seen him in years, but it is a good story. He told me that his first time with Maharaj he was anxious and felt like he just didn't get it, and could not understand where Maharaj was speaking from even though he asked question after question of him. Jack then went to Sri Lanka to do a three month meditation retreat and came back to Bombay. This time he was really blown out, he was " right there " with Maharaj at every word he said, silently nodding, asking no questions. Maharaj pointed to him and asked him directly, " So now you get it, do you? " Kornfield nodded his head. " So then there is No More Fear, Right!? " Maharaj shouted, confronting him directly. Jack said that at that point he felt a wave of fear come up from the depths of his psyche, a palpable rising wave. Maharaj, pointed at this immaterial wave as if it were a physical thing like a chair or a table, " Stop! " He said, " Don't believe in that apparition, if you do, you're cooked. Just stop believing in that and you are free!
