What do you specifically mean by "tripping the lightmonastic"Let's be clear on that.Anand.

Yes, I didn't mean for the phrase to reflect on any particular monastic tradition or on such traditions in general, but rather to carry the suggestion of its root meaning, from the late Greek 'monachos', from which we get our English word 'monk' .... also, Greek, 'monos,'... 'oneness, one alone'... from which we derive 'Monotheism', precisely that domination of the One God idea - One God, One Heart, One Way to Truth... that Monolithic One in the name of which more people have been murdered than we can count. When we trip in that light, the great danger is a kind of intellectual non-dualism in which the bound soul conceives that it is One With All. That kind of bogus Oneness has, historically, been imposed on other people called pagans, infidels and unbelievers, and violently at that.

best,

Colin
