Guest guest
when someone tells you not to take things personally there is a funny comeback: " how else am i suppose to take it, as a group? " we imagine ourselves as a person and we then imagine god as a person as well. how else are we suppose to imagine things since this imagining is very much a personal emotional experience. some people go the other extreme and imagine themselves and god as an impersonal functioning of totality. a wiseguy type of response would be, " stop imagining then, " but imagining is how this separate body/mind recontstucts reality in the mind for " me. " if it didn't happen that way when a car was speeding towards you at a busy intersection, you would not know who's the subject (you) and the object (car). what a mess that'd be. another misunderstanding is that the mind manifests the reality as opposed to reconstructing it. i think this view can be tested on railtracks with a fast approaching train. if the mind does not reconstruct the physical train, this test comes to a quick end, unless a miracle happens and the observer manifests the train to go in reverse motion. some nondual teachers point the seeker to the impersonal functioning of totality to break the identification with personal thoughts but i think it'd be a mistake to go the other way and imagine god as an impersonal entity. what if there was no god and only " being " ...and in being appeared the ideas of " me " and " gods " ? hur
