Guest guest
I have a discussion going if God is a state of mind.. here: this is a argument from an an other thread: poster: There is no path in books and God cannot be found or lost ~~ karta: God, paradise or " kingdom of god " is a state of mind.. and it should be looked for and be FOUND!--so we can have peace and light on earth.. ~~ poster: While a peaceful mind is probably a good goal and something worthy of seeking and achieving, my thought is that if you seek a state of mind, that's all you will find. I think God is not a state of mind. ~~ kara: I was thinking more of a realized mind a god-realized, enlightened person's mind.. which is peaceful and + has the right understanding compassion..etc and acts in total unisom with *god's will* I thought that *god* is a word used for an abstract ... it is perceived, understood differently by everybody.. so it is a state of mind..what else could it be..? for us humans.. I don't belive in a god in the Genesis stories and holy scriptures..more than I believe the Grimm fairy-tales, or any other dogma..they all were made for an other generation to comprehend.. have ethics, to control and to sood their fear of death.. I like to think god is synonymous with the Life-force Brahman the Consciousness (capital C not the individual one..) and God is but ONE: fragmanted in all of us; into the part we call soul.. and I like to build union with it any which way I can: through Kundalini yoga shabd yoga with bhajan and now practicing the awareness kept aware on awareness Nisargadatta style ...the *search* has sloped.. ~k~

Guest guest
Do you believe that the material world is more 'fundamental', or God (spiritual) is more 'fundamental'? If God is a state of mind, or a figment of our imagination, then God is derived from psycho-physiological reactions, or in other words, the spiritual is derived from the physical. The physical comes first. This is what the scientific method assumes. If you believe the spiritual is fundamental, then you believe the psycho-physiological world is derived from God. This is the position of religion. Non-dualism takes a different tack in that it only allows for God. Only a petina of the physical (lesh avidya - little bit of ignorance) is reluctantly granted to account for continuation of action (karma). Whish is correct? What matters is our consciousness, our ability to appreciate reality. When our intellect is unbounded and resolute and can discriminate between the real and unreal, then we'll know. Until then, such speculations are like a hobby or stating a preference in fruit. Speaking of 'then', there's no time like NOW.
